Safety Precautions

- Always unplug the unit from the outlet before cleaning or removing a staple jam. Grasp the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting.

Operation
Loading Staples
For best performance, use S-17849 or S-14137 staples.
- Press the magazine release button. The magazine extension will eject outward. (See Figure 1, which shows the stapler with the magazine release button extended).
- Grasp the magazine extension and pull it forward to ensure a full strip of staples can be inserted. (See Figure 2, which illustrates pulling the magazine extension). Caution: Ensure any existing staples are properly seated before adding a new strip and closing the magazine.
- Push the magazine back into the housing until it is firmly locked in position. (See Figure 3, showing the magazine being pushed back into the stapler body). Note: The magazine must be fully seated and locked before stapling to prevent damage to the driver element.
Stapling
- Insert paper directly under the magazine. (See Figure 4, illustrating paper insertion).
- Ensure the paper is positioned under the clincher.
- For stapling 2 to 20 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper, use S-17849 staples.
- For stapling 20 to 45 sheets of 20 lb. bond paper, use S-14137 staples.
Low Staple Supply Indicator Light
This stapler is equipped with a low staple indicator. A blue light will illuminate at the top of the stapler when the staple supply is low and will remain lit until new staples are inserted and the magazine is closed. (See Figure 5, showing the location of the indicator light).
Troubleshooting
Clearing a Jam
- Unplug the AC plug from the outlet before attempting to clear jammed staples.
- Press the magazine release button.
- If the magazine ejects, remove the jammed staples and proceed to step 6.
- If the magazine does not eject, proceed to step 3.
- Use a pen or similar object to disengage the staple driver from the magazine. (See Figure 6, illustrating the use of a tool to disengage the driver).
- If the staple driver disengages, press the magazine release button and remove the jammed staples. Proceed to step 6.
- If the staple driver does not disengage, proceed to step 4.
- Turn the unit upside down with the suction cup feet facing upwards and the power cord away from you. (See Figure 7, showing the stapler inverted).
- Locate the vertical metal slot inside the stapler opening where paper is inserted. Check for staples. (See Figure 7a, a close-up of the slot).
- If staples are present: Insert a flat head screwdriver or stiff paperclip into the opening. Position the tool at the bottom of the slot and push the staples upward to remove them. (See Figure 8, illustrating staple removal with a tool).
- If staples are not present: Insert a flat head screwdriver or stiff paperclip into the opening. Position the tool at the top of the slot and push downward to release the stuck staple driver. A loud sound will indicate the driver has moved back into its proper position. (See Figure 8). Note: If the staple driver is stuck lower down where tools cannot reach, gently tap the stapler upside down 4-5 times on a hard surface. A loud sound will indicate the driver has reset. (See Figure 9).
- Reload staples into the magazine and test. If the stapler does not operate correctly, contact Uline Customer Service at 1-800-295-5510.
Curling Staple Legs into Paper Sheet
If staple legs are too long, they may curl back through the paper. Ensure you are using the correct staples for your sheet capacity.
- S-17849 (1/4") staples are for 2 to 20 sheets of 20 lb. paper.
- S-14137 (3/8") staples are for 20 to 45 sheets of 20 lb. paper.
