Download the Software
Access the software download page at: https://www.crealitycloud.com/software-firmware/software?type=11
The website lists available software including Creality Print, HALOT BOX, Creality Slicer, and CR Studio. CR Studio is described as a self-developed 3D scanning software for CR Scan 01, featuring powerful model processing capabilities, turntable and handheld modes, and export options.
Version history for CR Studio is available for both Windows and Mac, including versions like V2.2.0, V1.8.0, V2022.5.19.0020 (Lizard), and V2021.12.
Launch the Software
The software launch process begins with a login screen that presents options for 'Hand Mode' and 'Table Mode', along with an 'Open Project' feature.
The main interface of the software includes menus for File, Tools, Edit, History, and Help. Users can initiate scanning via 'Scan' or access login and edit modes. Various panels display settings such as brightness, frame rate, and scan quality.
Import the Calib File
To import a calibration file, navigate to "File" in the menu and select "Import Calib".
The Calibration dialog offers options for "Manual Import" and "Network Download". Users can specify the Calib File, enter Calib Info, Serial Number, Calibrate Time, and Calibrate Type. The serial number (SN) is typically found on the device label.
For Windows users: Choose "Network Download" and click "Import".
For Mac OS users: Choose "Network Download", input the device's SN, click "Apply", and then "Import".
Upon successful download, a "calibfile download successfully" message is displayed.
In the Turntable Mode
Step 1: Preview
Adjust the scanning angle and the distance between the turntable and the scanner to position the object in the center of the 3D view. For CR-Scan 01, maintain a distance of 600-800mm. For CR-Scan Lizard, keep the distance between 300-400mm. Ensure the tripod is extended to its highest level.
A ruler on the left side of the interface indicates the scanning distance. A waveform graphic represents whether the distance is appropriate, with zones labeled 'too far', 'excellent', and 'too near'.
Step 2: Initial Scan
Ensure the area around the turntable is free of debris. Click the "Initial" button.
Move the object away from the turntable and scan the turntable itself. The initialization is considered successful when the turntable turns red. This process typically takes 1-2 seconds.
Step 3: Scan Object
Confirm the object is centered on the turntable. Click the "scan" button to begin the automatic scanning process. The turntable will automatically turn red upon completion of the scan.
Step 4: Append Scans
To achieve a complete scanning result, you can scan the object from different postures. Change the object's posture on the turntable, then click "append" followed by "scan" for each subsequent posture. The software will automatically begin scanning the next posture.
Step 5: Align Scans
Align the scanning results from different postures. Make the models visible by selecting the scanning data, then click "align" to initiate automatic alignment. After alignment, verify its success. If unsatisfied, select "manual" to perform manual alignment.
Step 6: Process Data
Once alignment is complete, click "process" to begin automatic data processing. You can configure processing options before proceeding:
- Fusion: Combines point cloud data to build the digital terrain model.
- Remove Noises: Automatically removes surrounding noise from the data.
- Repair: Automatically fills holes in areas that were not scanned. (Caution: Do not enable this for objects with only one visible surface, such as human faces.)
- Simplify: Adjusts the grid face count to optimize the model. For objects around 1000mm, a recommendation is 1-2 million grid faces; for objects around 300mm, 800,000 grid faces are recommended.
- TextureMapping: Automatically maps the pictures captured by the scanner's cameras onto the model.
Click "Apply" to activate the automatic processing. Finally, navigate to "File" and click "Export" to save your data in OBJ or STL format.
In the Handheld Mode
Step 1: Preview
Click "preview". A 10-second countdown will commence. During this period, you can adjust the brightness, the distance between the turntable and the scanner, and your scanning angle.
Step 2: Scan
Click the "Scan" button to begin the scanning process.
During the scanning process, move the scanner within the maximum scanning area. If tracking is lost, you can retrieve the lost area by scanning a previously scanned region using the global relocation function.
Similar to turntable mode, in handheld mode, you can scan your model in different postures to obtain a comprehensive result.
Step 3: Remove The Basement
Enter the edit mode.
Hold down the Ctrl
key and the left mouse button to select areas within the basement.
Right-click your mouse and choose "selection plane" to calculate the entire basement. The basement area will then turn red.
Step 4: Process
Click "process", rename your project, and save it. Then, click "Apply" to activate automatic processing.
Finally, click "File" in the menu and "Export" to get your data in OBJ or STL format.
