1. Einleitung
This manual provides instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of the Apera Instruments MP511 Benchtop pH Meter. The MP511 is designed for accurate pH measurements with a range of -2.00 to 19.99 pH and an accuracy of ±0.01 pH. It features automatic temperature compensation (ATC), auto-calibration with buffer recognition, and advanced digital filtering technology for improved response time and accuracy. The meter also includes GLP standard data management, storage for 500 data sets, and RS232 data output.
2. Packungsinhalt
Prüfen Sie beim Auspacken, ob alle Komponenten vorhanden sind:
- MP511 Benchtop pH Meter Unit
- 3-in-1 Combination pH Electrode
- Flexible Electrode Holder
- RS232 Software (typically on a CD or available for download)
- Netzteil
- pH Buffer Solutions (e.g., pH 4.00, 7.00, 10.01)
- Bedienungsanleitung
3. Einrichtung
- Assemble the Electrode Holder: Attach the flexible electrode holder to the meter base. Ensure it is securely fastened to provide stable support for the electrode.
- Connect the Electrode: Plug the BNC connector of the 3-in-1 combination pH electrode into the pH/mV input port on the back of the meter. If a separate temperature probe is used, connect it to the TEMP port.
- Strom anschließen: Plug the DC 9V power adapter into the DC 9V port on the back of the meter and then into a standard electrical outlet.
- Erstplatzierung: Place the electrode in its storage solution or a beaker of distilled water when not in use.

4. Bedienung
- Ein-/Ausschalten: Drücken Sie die EIN/AUS Taste zum Ein- und Ausschalten des Messgeräts.
- Modusauswahl: Drücken Sie die MODUS button to cycle through different measurement modes (pH, mV, temperature).
- Einheitenauswahl: Drücken Sie die EINHEIT button to change temperature units between °C and °F.
- Data Storage/Recall: Verwenden Sie die M+/RM button to store current readings or recall previously stored data.
- Bestätigen/Eingeben: Der EINGEBEN button is used to confirm selections or enter calibration mode.

5. Kalibrierung
Regular calibration is essential for accurate pH measurements. The MP511 features automatic calibration with buffer recognition.
- Puffer vorbereiten: Ensure you have fresh pH buffer solutions (e.g., pH 4.00, 7.00, 10.01) at room temperature.
- Elektrode spülen: Rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water and gently blot dry with a lint-free tissue.
- Kalibrierungsmodus aufrufen: With the meter powered on and in pH mode, press the CAL button. The display will indicate calibration mode.
- First Buffer Calibration: Immerse the electrode into the first buffer solution (e.g., pH 7.00). The meter will automatically recognize the buffer and stabilize. Press EINGEBEN zur Bestätigung.
- Subsequent Buffer Calibration: Rinse the electrode again. Immerse it into the next buffer solution (e.g., pH 4.00 or pH 10.01). The meter will recognize and stabilize. Press EINGEBEN to confirm. Repeat for additional buffer points as needed.
- Exit Calibration: After completing all desired calibration points, the meter will automatically return to measurement mode or prompt to save calibration.
6. Messmodi
The MP511 offers three distinct measurement modes:
- Stable Measurement Display Mode: Displays the pH reading once it has stabilized. This is the standard mode for most measurements.
- Timing Measuring Mode: Allows for measurements at set intervals, useful for monitoring changes over time.
- Kontinuierlicher Messmodus: Provides real-time, continuous pH readings, suitable for dynamic processes.
Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for specific steps on how to select and configure each measurement mode.
7. Datenverwaltung
The MP511 incorporates GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standard data management features:
- Datenspeicherung: The meter can store up to 500 sets of measurement data.
- Lagermethoden: Data can be stored manually or automatically at user-defined timing intervals.
- Datenausgabe: An RS232 port is provided for connecting the meter to a computer to transfer stored data using the included software.

8. Wartung
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your pH meter.
- Elektrodenpflege:
- Always keep the electrode bulb immersed in storage solution when not in use. Never store it dry.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water before and after each measurement.
- Clean the electrode regularly according to the electrode's specific cleaning instructions, especially if readings become sluggish or inaccurate.
- Meter Cleaning: The MP511 meter unit meets IP54 waterproof and dustproof standards. Clean the exterior with a damp Tuch. Vermeiden Sie die Verwendung aggressiver Chemikalien oder scheuernder Materialien.
- Energiequelle: The meter is battery-powered (though also uses a DC 9V adapter). Ensure the power adapter is used correctly. If using internal batteries, replace them as needed.
9. Fehlerbehebung
| Problem | Mögliche Ursache | Lösung |
|---|---|---|
| Instabile Messwerte | Dirty electrode; air bubbles; insufficient sample volume; electromagnetic interference | Clean electrode; gently tap electrode to remove bubbles; ensure adequate sample; move meter away from interference sources |
| Kalibrierungsfehler | Expired or contaminated buffer solutions; dirty electrode; incorrect buffer sequence | Use fresh buffer solutions; clean electrode; ensure correct buffer order (e.g., 7.00 first) |
| Kein Anzeige-/Stromproblem | Power adapter not connected; faulty power adapter; internal battery depletion | Check power connection; try a different outlet; replace internal batteries if applicable |
| Langsame Reaktionszeit | Electrode dry or contaminated; old electrode | Rehydrate electrode in storage solution; clean electrode; consider electrode replacement |
