Connectivity Modes

The Keychron K6 supports both wired and wireless (Bluetooth) connections. A switch on the side of the keyboard allows you to select your preferred mode.

Wired Mode

  1. Ensure the keyboard's mode switch is set to 'Cable'.
  2. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and the other end to your computer.
  3. The keyboard will be recognized automatically by your system.

Bluetooth Mode

  1. Ensure the keyboard's mode switch is set to 'Bluetooth'.
  2. On your device (computer, smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  3. Press and hold the Fn + 1 key combination for 4 seconds until the '1' key starts flashing rapidly. This indicates the keyboard is in pairing mode.
  4. Select 'Keychron K6' from the list of available Bluetooth devices on your device.
  5. Once connected, the '1' key will stop flashing and remain steadily lit.
  6. To pair with a second or third device, repeat steps 3-5 using Fn + 2 or Fn + 3 respectively.

Operating System Switch

Use the dedicated OS toggle switch on the side of the keyboard to select between 'Win/Android' and 'Mac/iOS' layouts. This ensures correct key functionality for your operating system.

Operating Instructions

Backlight Control

The Keychron K6 features dynamic RGB backlighting. Use the following key combinations to control the lighting effects:

  • Fn + Light Bulb Key: Cycle through different RGB lighting effects.
  • Fn + Arrow Up/Down: Adjust backlight brightness.
  • Fn + Arrow Left/Right: Adjust backlight speed/color (depending on effect).

Multimedia and Function Keys

The K6 provides convenient access to multimedia and function keys through combinations with the Fn key. Refer to the keycap legends for specific functions (e.g., Fn + F1 for brightness down, Fn + F2 for brightness up, etc.).

Battery Management

The keyboard is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery. To check the battery level, press Fn + B. The backlight will flash to indicate the battery status. When the battery is low, the keyboard's indicator light will flash red. Connect the USB-C cable to charge the keyboard.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the keyboard surface. For deeper cleaning, use the provided keycap puller to remove keycaps and clean dust or debris with compressed air.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the keyboard frequently. Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
  • Switch Replacement: If you have the hot-swappable version, use the switch puller to carefully remove and replace switches. Ensure the new switch pins align correctly before pressing it into place.

Troubleshooting

Keyboard Not Connecting via Bluetooth

  • Ensure the keyboard's mode switch is set to 'Bluetooth'.
  • Make sure the keyboard is charged.
  • Try re-pairing the keyboard by holding Fn + 1/2/3 for 4 seconds.
  • Remove 'Keychron K6' from your device's Bluetooth list and try pairing again.
  • Test with a different device to rule out device-specific issues.

Keys Not Responding

  • Check the connection mode (wired/Bluetooth) and ensure it's correctly set.
  • If in wired mode, try a different USB-C cable or port.
  • If in Bluetooth mode, ensure it's paired and connected.
  • For individual keys, if you have a hot-swappable version, try reseating the switch or replacing it.

Backlight Not Working

  • Ensure the keyboard is sufficiently charged.
  • Press Fn + Light Bulb Key to cycle through lighting modes.
  • Adjust brightness using Fn + Arrow Up.
