5. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the package contents (main unit, welding pens, foot pedal, power adapter) are present.
  2. Connect Welding Pens: Insert the welding pen cables into the designated "Soldering pen interface" ports on the front panel of the main unit. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Connect Foot Pedal (Optional): If using manual mode, connect the foot pedal cable to the "Foot pedal interface" port.
  4. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the DC input port on the unit and then plug it into a suitable power outlet. The device will power on automatically or can be turned on via the power button.
  5. Initial Charge: For optimal performance, ensure the internal battery is fully charged before first use. The LCD display will indicate charging status.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

The device typically powers on automatically when connected to power. To manually power on/off, press and hold the power button located near the display.

6.2 Mode Selection (Auto/Manual)

The TK-20P supports both automatic and manual welding modes. Use the control knob or dedicated button (if available) to switch between modes as displayed on the LCD screen.

  • Automatic Mode: Welding is triggered automatically when both welding pen tips make contact with the workpiece.
  • Manual Mode: Welding is triggered by pressing the foot pedal after both welding pen tips are in contact with the workpiece.

6.3 Parameter Adjustment

Use the control knob and LCD display to adjust welding parameters for different materials and thicknesses. The display shows real-time settings for:

  • Welding Gear/Power: Adjust the output power level. Start with lower settings and gradually increase as needed.
  • Preheat Time: Sets a brief pre-weld pulse to prepare the material.
  • Delay Time: Sets the delay before the main welding pulse.
  • System Settings: Access additional device configurations.

Recommendation: Perform test welds on scrap material to determine optimal settings before working on your final project.

6.4 Welding Process

  1. Prepare your nickel strip and battery cells. Ensure surfaces are clean and free of oxidation.
  2. Select your desired welding mode (Auto or Manual) and adjust parameters on the LCD display.
  3. Position the nickel strip firmly against the battery terminal.
  4. Place both welding pen tips onto the nickel strip, ensuring good contact and even pressure.
  5. For Automatic Mode: The weld will trigger automatically upon contact.
  6. For Manual Mode: Press the foot pedal to initiate the weld.
  7. After the weld, lift the pens. Inspect the weld for strength and consistency. Adjust parameters if necessary.
