Model: 10x10BK | Brand: MELLCOM

1. Introduction

This instruction manual provides essential information for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your MELLCOM 10x10 Louvered Pergola. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly and retain this manual for future reference.

2. Safety Information

  • Ensure all parts are present and undamaged before assembly. Do not proceed with assembly if any parts are missing or damaged.
  • Assembly requires at least two adults.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection, during assembly.
  • Securely anchor the pergola to a solid surface using the provided expansion bolts to prevent tipping in high winds. The pergola is wind resistant up to 80 MPH when properly anchored.
  • Do not climb on the pergola structure.
  • Regularly inspect the pergola for loose fasteners or damaged components. Tighten as necessary.
  • Clear snow accumulation from the louvered roof to prevent structural damage.

3. Package Contents

Verify all components are present before starting assembly. Refer to the parts list included in your packaging for detailed identification. The package typically contains 7 boxes of parts.

Typical package contents include:

  • Main structural posts and beams (Aluminum, Steel)
  • Adjustable louvered roof panels
  • Louver drive system components (crank handles, rods, brackets)
  • Waterproof curtains and mosquito nets
  • Hardware kit (screws, bolts, anchors)
  • Installation tools (Power drill, tape measure, hammer, screwdriver, ladder, scissors recommended, not all included)

4. Assembly Instructions

Follow these steps carefully for proper assembly. Refer to the included diagram for part identification.

4.1. Prepare the Site and Tools

  • Choose a flat, level surface for installation.
  • Gather all necessary tools as listed in the package contents.

4.2. Install the Base Posts

Attach the base plates to the bottom of each post (Part A) using the specified screws. Ensure a secure connection. This step involves screwing the base plate (Part O) to the bottom of the post (Part A) using screws (Part 1#).

4.3. Assemble the Beams

Connect the beam sections (Parts B, B1, C, C1, D, D1, D2, D3, E, E1, E2, E3, F, F1, F2, F3) as per the diagram, ensuring all screws are tightened. Apply waterproof tape to cross beam grooves to prevent leaks, avoiding screw holes.

4.4. Connect Posts and Beams to Form the Frame

With assistance, carefully lift and connect the assembled beams to the posts. Secure all connections with the provided hardware (Part N, N1, N2, screws 2#). Ensure the frame is square and level.

4.5. Install the Louver Drive System

Assemble the louver drive system components (Parts I-1, I-2, K, L, M1, M2, screws 5#, 6#) as shown in the diagram. Secure the drive mechanism to the frame and install the louver support brackets.

4.6. Install Adjustable and Fixed Louvers

Carefully place and secure the adjustable louver panels onto the drive system. Install any fixed louver sections as per the design. Ensure all louvers are properly aligned and secured.

4.8. Install Curtains and Mosquito Netting

Insert the curtain hooks into the track along the perimeter of the pergola. The mesh and curtain panels are pre-matched. Unzip one side of the combined panel and hang each panel on the track in order. Secure the end caps to prevent hooks from sliding out.

Detachable fabric options: fully open, nets only, fully closed

5. Operation

5.1. Adjusting the Louvered Roof

The pergola features two independently controlled louvered roofs. Use the durable crank handles to adjust the louvers from 0 to 90 degrees. This allows for full weather protection or partial shade. Turn the handle clockwise to close the louvers and counter-clockwise to open them.

5.2. Using Curtains and Nets

The pergola is equipped with detachable curtains and nets for protection against insects, rain, and for privacy. Use the upper, middle, and lower straps near the posts to secure the curtains and netting, preventing them from flying in strong winds.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the aluminum frame with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. The curtains and nets are detachable and washable.
  • Louver Mechanism: Periodically check the louver drive system for smooth operation. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
  • Fasteners: Regularly inspect all screws and bolts for tightness. Re-tighten any loose fasteners to maintain structural integrity.
  • Drainage System: Ensure the built-in drainage system is clear of debris (leaves, dirt) to prevent water accumulation on the roof.
  • Winter Care: In areas with heavy snowfall, it is recommended to keep the louvers open or clear snow accumulation to prevent damage to the roof structure.
