Model: FT-CLP4002AF-10in-FR

Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your FOTING Sand Filter System. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use, and keep it for future reference.

The FOTING Sand Filter System is designed to provide clear water for above-ground pools, frame pools, and garden pools. It features a maximum flow rate of 11,500 L/h, a 24-hour dual-mode timer, a 7-way valve, and an integrated pressure gauge.

Safety Instructions

  • Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance or service on the filter system.
  • Ensure the system is installed on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.
  • Do not operate the pump dry. Ensure the pump is primed with water before starting.
  • Only switch the 7-way valve when the pump is turned off to prevent damage.
  • Keep children away from the filter system during operation.
  • Use only approved replacement parts and filter media.
  • Protect the filter system from freezing temperatures during winter operation.

Product Overview and Components

The FOTING Sand Filter System includes the main filter tank, pump, 7-way valve, pressure gauge, and necessary adapters for connection.

Setup and Installation

1. Placement

Place the filter system on a firm, level surface near the pool. Ensure adequate space for maintenance and operation. The system is compatible with most above-ground pools.

2. Filter Media Installation

The system is designed for 13 kg of filter sand, 400 g of filter balls, or filter glass. 200 g of filter balls are included for initial use. Additional filter media may be required depending on pool size.

  • Open the filter tank.
  • Carefully add the chosen filter media into the tank. Ensure the central pipe is not obstructed.
  • Close the filter tank securely.

3. Hose Connections

Use the provided 2-in-1 adapter (Ø32 mm / Ø38 mm) for standard hoses. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.

  • Connect the pump to the filter tank.
  • Connect the pool inlet hose to the pump.
  • Connect the pool outlet hose from the 7-way valve back to the pool.
  • Connect a drain hose to the waste port of the 7-way valve if needed.

Operating Instructions

1. Priming the Pump

Before starting the pump, ensure it is fully primed with water to prevent damage from dry running. Open all necessary valves to allow water to flow into the pump.

2. 7-Way Valve Operation

The 7-way valve controls the water flow through the filter system. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

  • Filtration: For normal daily filtering of pool water.
  • Backwash: Reverses water flow to clean the filter media.
  • Rinse: Used after backwash to flush out remaining debris from the filter.
  • Drain: Drains water directly from the pool, bypassing the filter.
  • Closed: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Do not use when the pump is running.
  • Recirculation: Circulates pool water without filtering it.
  • Winter: Protects the filter valve from frost during winter operation.

3. 24-Hour Dual-Mode Timer

The integrated 24-hour timer allows for automated water circulation. It features a single cycle mode and a continuous operation mode.

  • Single Cycle Mode: Program the system to run for a specific duration once within a 24-hour period.
  • Continuous Operation Mode: The system runs continuously until manually turned off.
  • Refer to the timer's specific controls for setting durations and modes.

Maintenance

1. Monitoring Pressure Gauge

The integrated pressure gauge monitors the operating pressure. A significant increase in pressure during filtration mode indicates that the filter media may be clogged and requires cleaning.

Figure 10: Pressure Gauge and Technical Data. This image shows the FOTING sand filter system with a close-up of the precise pressure gauge. It also displays key technical data such as 400W power, 220-240V/50Hz voltage, 11,500 L/H max flow, 10m max head, and IPX5 protection.

2. Backwash and Rinse Procedure

When the pressure gauge indicates high pressure, perform a backwash and rinse cycle:

  1. Turn off the pump.
  2. Set the 7-way valve to BACKWASH.
  3. Turn on the pump and run until the water flowing out of the waste port is clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
  4. Turn off the pump.
  5. Set the 7-way valve to RINSE.
  6. Turn on the pump and run for about 30-60 seconds to flush out any remaining debris.
  7. Turn off the pump.
  8. Set the 7-way valve back to FILTRATION.
  9. Turn on the pump to resume normal operation.

3. Winterization

Before freezing temperatures arrive, prepare the filter system for winter:

  • Drain all water from the pump, filter tank, and hoses.
  • Set the 7-way valve to WINTER position to relieve pressure on the internal components.
  • Store the pump and filter in a dry, frost-free location if possible.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump not startingNo power; clogged impeller; air in pump.Check power connection; clear impeller; prime pump.
Low water flowClogged filter media; clogged skimmer/pump basket; air leak in suction line.Perform backwash/rinse; clean baskets; check hose connections for leaks.
Water not clearingInsufficient filtration time; incorrect filter media; chemical imbalance.Increase filtration time; check filter media quantity/type; test and adjust pool chemistry.
High pressure on gaugeClogged filter media.Perform backwash and rinse cycle.
LeaksLoose connections; damaged O-rings/gaskets.Tighten all connections; inspect and replace O-rings/gaskets as needed.
