  3. Remove the lock head from the pin.

Step 3: Securing with the Straight Lock

  1. Install O-rings on the straight receiver lock in your preferred number and arrangement to reduce noise and movement.
  2. Insert the straight receiver lock through the aligned holes of the receiver and the L-shaped shank.
  3. Press the lock core down to secure it and put on the protective cap.

Step 4: Securing the Hitch Ball

  4. Pry open the retaining ring of the round lynch pin, insert the pin through the small hole on the U-shaped lock, and then press the ring down to secure it.

4. Height Adjustment

Achieving the correct height is crucial for safe and stable towing. Follow these three simple steps to determine the ideal height for your setup.

Video: CAMMOO Trailer Hitch Height Adjustment Guide. This video explains how to measure vehicle and trailer heights, calculate the height difference, and use a chart to determine the correct hitch ball position.

Step 1: Measure Vehicle Receiver Height (A)

Measure the vertical distance from the ground to the top of your vehicle's hitch receiver. Record this measurement as A.

Step 2: Measure Trailer Coupler Height (B)

Measure the vertical distance from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler. Record this measurement as B.

Step 3: Calculate Height Difference (C)

Calculate the height difference using the formula: C = A - B.

  • If C is a positive number, your vehicle sits higher than the trailer.
  • If C is a negative number, your trailer sits higher than the vehicle.
  • If C is zero, your vehicle and trailer are perfectly level.

Image: Visual explanation of calculating the height difference (C) between the vehicle receiver (A) and trailer coupler (B).

Based on your calculated C value, refer to the provided chart (or the product's physical manual) to determine the proper L-Shaped Shank orientation (upward or downward) and the correct hole position for the hitch ball to achieve a level tow.

Two Installation Ways for Different Height Needs

  • L-Shaped Shank Down: Use this orientation if your vehicle sits higher than your trailer (positive C value).
  • L-Shaped Shank Upward: Use this orientation if your trailer sits higher than your vehicle (negative C value).

5. Operating the Hitch

Once installed and adjusted to the correct height, the CAMMOO Adjustable Trailer Hitch provides a secure connection for towing. Always ensure all pins and locks are properly engaged before towing.

Dual Ball System

The hitch features an interchangeable 2-inch ball supporting up to 15,000 lbs and a 2-5/16-inch ball rated for up to 20,000 lbs, making it suitable for Class III to V towing. Select the appropriate ball size for your trailer's coupler.

Noise and Movement Reduction

The hitch is engineered with multiple features to minimize noise and sway during towing:

  • 8 O-rings: Reduce lock noise and movement.
  • 3 Square Silencer Pads: Reduce noise and movement between the receiver and the hitch.
  • 2 Hitch Ball Side Pads: Reduce noise and movement between the U-channel and the hitch balls.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your CAMMOO Adjustable Trailer Hitch.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the hitch components, especially after exposure to dirt, salt, or harsh weather conditions. Use a mild detergent and water, then dry thoroughly.
  • Lubrication: Apply a thin layer of grease to the hitch balls and the moving parts of the locks to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect the hitch for any signs of wear, damage, cracks, or corrosion. Pay close attention to the shank, hitch balls, and locking mechanisms. Ensure all pins and locks engage securely.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the hitch in a dry place to prevent rust and prolong its lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your CAMMOO Adjustable Trailer Hitch, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Hitch is loose or rattling: Ensure all silencer pads and O-rings are correctly installed. Verify that both the straight receiver lock and the U-shaped hitch lock are fully engaged and secured with their respective pins/caps.
  • Difficulty inserting/removing locks: Ensure the lock core is fully turned to the unlocked position. Clean any dirt or debris from the lock mechanism and apply a small amount of lubricant if necessary.
  • Trailer is not level: Re-measure your vehicle receiver height (A) and trailer coupler height (B). Recalculate the height difference (C) and adjust the hitch ball position on the L-shaped shank according to the height adjustment instructions.
  • Excessive sway during towing: Ensure the hitch is properly installed and adjusted to the correct height. Verify that the trailer's weight distribution is balanced. Consult your vehicle and trailer manuals for proper loading and towing guidelines.
