5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

After each use, allow the probes to cool completely. Wipe the probes clean with a damp cloth. The probes are dishwasher safe. Do not immerse the base unit in water. Wipe the base unit with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Ensure all components are dry before storage.

5.2 Storage

Store the thermometer and probes in a cool, dry place when not in use. Keep the probes inserted into the base unit for convenient storage and to ensure they remain charged.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Bluetooth Connection:
Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Make sure the thermometer base unit is powered on and within the 800ft range. Close and reopen the CHEFBBQ app. If issues persist, try restarting your phone and the thermometer base unit.
  • Inaccurate Temperature Readings:
Ensure the probe is inserted correctly into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones. Verify that the probe tip is not touching the cooking surface. The thermometer is NIST certified for accuracy; if you suspect a significant deviation, contact customer support.
  • App Not Displaying Correctly or Freezing:
Try force-closing and reopening the CHEFBBQ app. If the problem continues, uninstall and reinstall the app. Ensure your phone's operating system is up to date.
  • Base Unit Not Responding:
Check if the base unit is charged. If the screen is blank, connect it to a power source. If buttons are unresponsive, try a soft reset by holding the power button for an extended period (e.g., 10 seconds) or allowing the battery to fully discharge and then recharging.
