Setup Instructions

1. Check Laptop Compatibility

Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and power delivery. Look for specific symbols next to your USB-C port:

  • Compatible: Thunderbolt symbol (lightning bolt), 'D' symbol (DisplayPort Alt Mode), or a combination of 'SS' (SuperSpeed) with 'D' or a battery symbol.
  • Incompatible: Ports marked only for charging or data transfer without video output capabilities.

2. Connecting Your Device

The monitor is designed for plug-and-play functionality. No additional drivers are typically required.

For Windows Laptops (One USB-C Cable Connection)

Connect one end of the provided USB-C to USB-C cable to a full-function USB-C port on your laptop and the other end to either Port 2 or Port 3 on the portable monitor. This single cable provides both video and power.

Note: Without the original power adapter, the maximum brightness is 70%. For 100% brightness, use the original power adapter.

For macOS Devices (MacBook)

There are two connection methods for macOS, depending on your desired display mode:

  • One USB-C Cable Connection: Connect one USB-C cable from your MacBook to Port 2 or Port 3 on the monitor. This supports Full and Duplicate modes.
  • Two USB-C Cable Connection: Connect one USB-C cable from your MacBook to Port 1, and another USB-C cable from your MacBook to either Port 2 or Port 3. This supports Full, Split, and Duplicate modes.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MAGICRAVEN portable monitor, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen and exterior. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: When not in use, fold the monitor flat and store it in a protective sleeve or bag to prevent scratches and damage, especially during travel.
  • Handling: Handle the monitor with care. Avoid dropping it or applying excessive force to the screens or hinges.
  • Environment: Operate and store the monitor in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and high humidity.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MAGICRAVEN portable monitor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
No Display / No Signal
  • Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode). Refer to the 'Check Laptop Compatibility' section.
  • Verify that the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the monitor.
  • Try a different USB-C port on your laptop, if available.
  • Ensure the monitor is receiving sufficient power. Connect the 20W power adapter if the laptop's USB-C port cannot provide enough power.
Screen is Grainy or Poor Quality in Extended Mode
  • This issue may occur when using a single display extended across both monitors. Try resetting display settings or using separate USB-C connections for each display if your laptop supports it.
  • Ensure you are using the provided high-quality USB-C cables.
Extended Mode Not Working on M1/M2/M3 MacBook Air
  • This is a limitation of macOS on M1/M2/M3 MacBook Air models. Only mirror mode and full mode are supported. This is not a product fault.
Brightness is Low (Max 70%)
  • The monitor may not be receiving enough power from your laptop's USB-C port. Connect the original 20W power adapter to achieve 100% brightness.
Cannot Achieve Split Display Mode
  • For macOS, ensure you are using a two USB-C cable connection (one to Port 1, and another to Port 2 or 3) to enable Split mode.
  • For Windows, ensure your laptop's display settings are configured for 'Extend these displays'.

If these solutions do not resolve your issue, please contact MAGICRAVEN customer support for further assistance.
