1. Important Safety Instructions

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Package Contents:

Ensure all items are present and undamaged before assembly.

3.2 Assembly:

The pole hedge trimmer is designed for quick and easy assembly.

  1. Connect the Trimmer Head to the Pole: Align the connection points of the trimmer head with the upper pole section. Push firmly until it clicks into place.
  2. Connect Pole Sections: If your model includes multiple pole sections, connect them by aligning the arrows and pushing until the locking mechanism engages.
  3. Attach Handle Section: Connect the handle section (with battery compartment) to the lower pole section. Ensure all connections are secure before use.

3.3 Battery Installation and Charging:

  1. Install Battery: Slide the fully charged 20V MAX Lithium-ion battery into the battery compartment on the handle until it clicks securely into place.
  2. Remove Battery: Press the battery release button and slide the battery out of the compartment.
  3. Charging: Connect the charger to a power outlet. Insert the battery into the charger. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting and Stopping:

  • To Start: Ensure the battery is securely installed. Press and hold the safety lock-off button (if present), then squeeze the trigger switch.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger switch.

4.2 Adjusting the Trimmer Head Angle:

The trimmer head can be adjusted to 5 different positions from 30° to 180° for optimal cutting angles.

  1. Ensure the tool is off and the battery is removed for safety.
  2. Locate the angle adjustment button or lever on the trimmer head.
  3. Press the button/lever and pivot the trimmer head to the desired angle.
  4. Release the button/lever and ensure the head locks securely into position before use.

4.3 Adjusting Pole Length:

The telescopic pole allows for adjustment of the trimming distance.

  1. Loosen the locking collar on the telescopic pole.
  2. Extend or retract the pole to the desired length.
  3. Tighten the locking collar firmly to secure the pole in position.

4.4 Trimming Techniques:

  • Always maintain a firm grip on the tool with both hands.
  • Use a sweeping motion to cut, moving the trimmer smoothly along the hedge.
  • Avoid cutting branches thicker than the recommended capacity (refer to specifications).
  • For tall hedges, work from top to bottom, allowing cuttings to fall away from the area being trimmed.
  • Wear the provided shoulder strap to help distribute the tool's weight and reduce fatigue.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

5.1 Blade Care:

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the blades with a stiff brush to remove sap, leaves, and debris.
  • Lubrication: Apply a light machine oil or blade lubricant along the cutting edge of the blades to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
  • Sharpening: If blades become dull, they can be sharpened by a qualified service technician. Do not attempt to sharpen blades yourself unless you have proper training and tools.

5.2 General Cleaning and Storage:

  • Wipe down the tool's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use strong detergents or solvents.
  • Store the tool in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
  • Always attach the blade guard before storing the trimmer.
