5. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and reliable operation of the BEM-TCT-4B controller.

5.1 Panel Mounting

  1. Prepare an opening in your control panel with dimensions of 45mm x 92mm. Refer to Section 3.3 for detailed dimensions.
  2. Insert the controller into the prepared opening from the front of the panel.
  3. Secure the controller using the provided installation screws and brackets from the rear of the panel. Ensure it is firmly seated.

5.2 Wiring Instructions

Refer to the wiring diagram on the side of the unit and Section 3.2 for terminal identification. Ensure all connections are secure and correct before applying power.

  • Power Supply: Connect the 100-240VAC 50/60Hz power supply to the designated power input terminals.
  • Thermocouple Input: Connect your K/J/R/S/B/E/N/T type thermocouple to the sensor input terminals. Ensure correct polarity if applicable.
  • Solid State Output: Connect the load to the solid state output terminals (12VDC ±2V 20mA or less). This output is typically used to drive a Solid State Relay (SSR) which then controls the main heating element.
  • Grounding: Ensure the unit is properly grounded according to safety standards.

Note: For loads requiring more power than the solid state output can directly handle, an external Solid State Relay (SSR) compatible with 12VDC control input is required.

6. Operating Instructions

The BEM-TCT-4B controller allows for precise setting of temperature and time parameters.

6.1 Setting Temperature (SV)

  1. Press the TEMP button once to enter temperature setting mode. The SV (Set Value) display will flash.
  2. Use the Up and Down arrow buttons next to TEMP to adjust the desired temperature.
  3. Press the TEMP button again to confirm the setting and exit temperature setting mode.

6.2 Setting Time (ST)

  1. Press the TIME button once to enter time setting mode. The ST (Set Time) display will flash.
  2. Use the Up and Down arrow buttons next to TIME to adjust the desired time in seconds (range 0-999).
  3. Press the TIME button again to confirm the setting and exit time setting mode.

6.3 PID Control

The controller utilizes PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control for stable and accurate temperature regulation. Once the temperature is set, the controller will automatically adjust its output to maintain the target temperature with minimal overshoot or undershoot.

6.4 Buzzer Function

The built-in buzzer provides audible alerts. When the countdown timer reaches its end, the buzzer will activate. The buzzer can be configured for different alarm modes and durations (0-250 seconds for advance alarm time). For a continuous beep, set the buzzer parameter to 0. For a recommended 0.3-second on/off frequency, set it to 60.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your BEM-TCT-4B controller.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the front panel with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect wiring connections for looseness or signs of damage. Ensure the mounting is secure.
  • Environment: Keep the operating environment free from excessive dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.

Caution: Do not attempt to open the casing of the controller. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BEM-TCT-4B controller, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Controller does not power on.No power supply; incorrect wiring; blown fuse (internal).Check power connections and voltage. Verify wiring according to diagram. If fuse is suspected, contact support.
Temperature reading is inaccurate or shows "HHHH" / "LLLL".Thermocouple not connected; incorrect thermocouple type selected; damaged thermocouple.Ensure thermocouple is securely connected and matches the input type setting. Replace damaged thermocouple.
Output (heating element) is not activating.Temperature set point (SV) is below current temperature; wiring error to SSR/load; faulty SSR.Increase SV above current temperature. Check wiring to external SSR and load. Test external SSR if possible.
Timer function is not working.Time set point (ST) is 0; timer not enabled; incorrect alarm mode.Set ST to a value greater than 0. Review operating instructions for timer activation and alarm mode settings.
Buzzer is not sounding.Buzzer setting is 0 (long beep) or disabled; timer not reaching end.Check buzzer settings in operating instructions. Ensure timer is counting down and reaching its set point.

9. Warranty and Support

Information regarding product warranty and customer support is typically provided at the point of purchase or within the product packaging. Please refer to your purchase documentation for details on warranty coverage and how to contact customer support for technical assistance or service inquiries.
