  • Chainsaw Specific Safety:
    • Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when operating.
    • Ensure the safety lock button is engaged when not cutting to prevent accidental starting.
    • Be aware of kickback. Kickback may occur when the moving chain contacts an object at the upper quadrant of the guide bar nose.
    • Never operate the chainsaw with one hand.
    • Do not operate the chainsaw when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
    • Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain when the chainsaw is operating.

5. Setup and Assembly

5.1. Battery Charging and Installation

  1. Charge Batteries: Before first use, fully charge both lithium-ion batteries using the provided charger. The charger indicator light will typically change from red to green when charging is complete.
  2. Install Battery: Align the battery with the battery slot on the chainsaw handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  3. Remove Battery: Press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery out of the slot.

5.2. Guide Bar and Chain Installation

Important: Always wear protective gloves when handling the saw chain to prevent injury.

  1. Remove Cover: Loosen the nuts on the side cover (chain cover) and remove it.
  2. Install Chain: Carefully place the saw chain around the sprocket and then guide it into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain teeth are facing the correct direction (refer to the diagram or markings on the chain/bar).
  3. Attach Guide Bar: Position the guide bar with the chain onto the chainsaw body, ensuring the guide bar studs pass through the holes in the guide bar.
  4. Replace Cover: Reinstall the side cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.
  5. Adjust Chain Tension: Use the tensioning screw (usually located near the guide bar) to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. A properly tensioned chain will have a small gap (approx. 2-3mm) between the chain and the guide bar when lifted from the center.
  6. Final Tightening: Once the chain tension is correct, fully tighten the side cover nuts with the provided wrench.

5.3. Lubrication

This chainsaw features an oil filling port for manual lubrication. It is crucial to lubricate the chain and guide bar regularly to ensure smooth operation and extend their lifespan. Use a high-quality bar and chain oil.

  1. Locate the oil filling port (refer to Figure 2).
  2. Open the cap and fill the reservoir with appropriate bar and chain oil.
  3. Close the cap securely.
  4. Check oil levels frequently during operation and refill as needed.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Starting the Chainsaw

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely installed.
  2. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the main handle and one on the auxiliary handle.
  3. To start, first press and hold the Safety Lock Button (refer to Figure 2).
  4. While holding the safety lock button, press the Power Switch (trigger) to start the chain.
  5. Release the safety lock button once the chain is running. The chainsaw will continue to operate as long as the power switch is pressed.
  6. To stop, release the power switch.

6.2. Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a stable stance and keep the chainsaw balanced. Plan your cut before starting.

  • General Cutting: Apply light pressure. Let the saw do the work. Do not force the chain through the wood.
  • Limbing: When cutting branches, be aware of spring-back. Cut smaller branches first to clear the area.
  • Bucking (Cutting Logs): When cutting logs on the ground, avoid cutting into the ground as this dulls the chain quickly. If the log is supported at both ends, cut from the top (overbucking). If supported at one end, cut from the bottom first (underbucking) to prevent pinching, then finish from the top.
  • Kickback Prevention: Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar. Always use the bottom or top edge of the guide bar.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw.

7.1. Chain Sharpening

A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting. A dull chain will produce sawdust instead of chips and require more force to cut.

  • Sharpen the chain regularly with a round file of the correct diameter (check manufacturer specifications for the chain).
  • Maintain the correct filing angles for the top plate and side plate.
  • Ensure depth gauges are also filed down to the correct height.
  • If unsure, have the chain professionally sharpened or replaced.

7.2. Cleaning and Lubrication

  • After Each Use: Remove the battery. Clean sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and sprocket area. Use a brush or compressed air.
  • Guide Bar Maintenance: Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear. Clean the guide bar groove to prevent sawdust buildup.
  • Chain Lubrication: As mentioned in Section 5.3, ensure the oil reservoir is filled with bar and chain oil before and during operation.

7.3. Storage

  • Always remove the battery before storing the chainsaw.
  • Store the chainsaw in its original case in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
  • Ensure the guide bar cover is in place to protect the chain.
