Operating Instructions

1. Pressure Cooking

  1. Add ingredients and liquid to the pot. Do not fill more than 2/3 full for most foods, and no more than 1/2 full for foods that expand (e.g., rice, dried vegetables).
  2. Place the pressure lid onto the pot. Align the lid and rotate the knob to securely lock it into place. The one-hand locking mechanism allows for easy and secure closure from any position.
  3. Set the desired pressure level using the valve on the lid (refer to 'Pressure Settings' section).
  4. Place the cooker on a heat source. Once pressure builds, the indicator will rise. Reduce heat to maintain the desired pressure.
  5. After cooking, allow pressure to release naturally or use the manual quick release valve. Ensure the pressure indicator has dropped before attempting to open the lid.

  2. Add water to the pot, ensuring it does not touch the bottom of the steamer rack.
  3. Place food on the steamer rack.
  4. Cover with the pressure lid and set to the appropriate pressure, or use the glass lid for non-pressure steaming.

  • Low Pressure (10 PSI / 60 kPa): Suitable for delicate foods such as vegetables, fish, and some fruits.
  • Manual Venting (0 kPa): Allows for quick release of pressure after cooking.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your pressure cooker, please review the following common problems and solutions:

  • Pressure Not Building: Ensure the lid is properly sealed and locked. Check the gasket for proper placement and condition. Verify that the pressure regulator is set correctly.
  • Steam Leaking from Lid: This often indicates an improperly seated gasket or a damaged gasket. Clean and reposition the gasket, or replace if damaged.
  • Lid Difficult to Open: Ensure all pressure has been released. Never force the lid open. If pressure is still present, the lid will remain locked for safety.
  • Food Not Cooking Properly: Check that the correct amount of liquid was added and that the pressure setting was appropriate for the food type and cooking time.
