2. Safety Instructions

4. Initial Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the coffee machine and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
- Rinsing Components: Wash the water tank, drip tray, and coffee grounds container with warm soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.
- Filling the Water Tank: Fill the 2-liter water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level. Ensure the tank is properly seated.
- Filling the Bean Hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper and pour fresh coffee beans into it. The hopper has a capacity of 150g. Close the lid securely.
- Initial Rinse Cycle: Place a container under the coffee spout. Plug in the machine and turn it on. The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle. Discard the water. Your machine is now ready for use.
5. Operation
5.1. Adjusting Grinding Level
The machine features 3 adjustable grinding levels. To change the grinding fineness, rotate the dial located inside the bean hopper. A finer grind (level 1) produces a stronger coffee, while a coarser grind (level 3) results in a milder taste. Important: Adjust the grinding level only when the grinder is operating to prevent damage.

5.2. Brewing Coffee
The Krups Coffee Crush Extra allows you to prepare Espresso, Lungo, and Americano coffee. Follow these steps:
- Place a cup under the coffee spout.
- Select your desired coffee type (Espresso, Lungo, or Filter Coffee/Americano) on the control panel.
- Adjust the intensity (coffee bean icon), length (cup icon), and temperature (thermometer icon) to your preference. The machine will remember your last settings for each coffee type.
- Press the 'Start/Stop' button to begin brewing. You can press 'Start/Stop' again to stop brewing at any time.
5.3. Using Pre-Ground Coffee
This machine is also equipped to use pre-ground coffee, ideal for decaffeinated options or different blends. To use pre-ground coffee:
- Open the dedicated compartment for pre-ground coffee (usually located near the brewing unit).
- Add one level scoop of pre-ground coffee. Do not overfill.
- Close the compartment.
- Select the pre-ground coffee option on the control panel (often indicated by a coffee grounds icon).
- Press 'Start/Stop' to brew.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee machine.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, empty and rinse the drip tray and the coffee grounds container. The rapid disposal system for coffee grounds makes this process easy.
- Water Tank: Clean the water tank regularly with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Descaling: The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Follow the instructions in the full manual (available online) for the descaling procedure using a suitable descaling solution. Regular descaling prevents mineral buildup and maintains coffee quality.
