3.2. Step-by-Step Assembly

  1. Install Rear Seat Cushion: Use a 10mm hexagonal wrench to install the saddle and tail stock. Tighten the screws one by one according to the manual's screw spaces.
  2. Install the Kickstand: Unscrew the parking rack screws and install them in the corresponding positions.
  3. Install the Front Wheel: Use a 15mm hexagonal wrench to remove the front fork protection rod and the brake protection plate. Pass the quick release rod through the front wheel. Lift the front fork and put the front wheel in, ensuring the brake disc is fully seated. Install the front fork on the quick release rod. Pay attention to the installation of the brake disc. Put the safety buckles on both sides into the corresponding spaces and tighten the screws.
  4. Install the Front Fender: Use a 4mm hex key to unscrew the three screws on the front fork. Put the fender in from behind the wheel. Tighten the upper screws with a 4mm hex key and then lock these screws on both sides of the support.
  5. Install the Handlebar: Remove the aluminum top cover with an Allen wrench. Loosen the riser screws. Flip the riser 180 degrees and lock the aluminum top screw. Use a 4mm Allen wrench to take down the riser screws. Put on the handlebar pressure block. The knurling on the handlebar should be placed in the center. Use diagonal locking screws. After the handlebars are installed, adjust the angle so the handlebar is perpendicular to the front wheel.
  6. Install the Pedals: Note that 'L' on the inside of the pedal shaft is for the left pedal, while 'R' is for the right pedal. The pedal marked with 'L' is mounted on the left side and locked counterclockwise with an L5mm wrench. The pedal with the letter 'R' is mounted on the right side and locked clockwise with a 15mm wrench.
  7. Install the Headlights: Use a 14mm wrench to remove the screws and foam pads from both sides of the front light. Place the front light with the foam pads between the brackets and the light, then tighten the screws. Connect the front light connector: align the red connector on the front light with the red connector on the display marked with an arrow, and push them together firmly.

Figure 5.2: Handlebar Controls

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button on the handlebar control panel to turn the bike on or off.
  • Pedal Assist (PAS) Modes: Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the control panel to cycle through different levels of pedal assist (typically 0-5). Level 0 is no assist, while higher levels provide more motor assistance.
  • Throttle: The twist grip throttle provides power without pedaling. Use it carefully, especially when starting.
  • Gears: Use the Shimano 7-speed shifter to change gears, adapting to different terrains and inclines.
  • Lights: Activate the headlight, brake light, and turn signals using the dedicated buttons on the handlebar for visibility.
  • Brakes: The dual mechanical disc brakes are activated by levers on the handlebars. Applying either brake will cut power to the motor for safety.

5.2. Riding Modes

  • Pure Electric Mode: Use the throttle for propulsion without pedaling.
  • Electric Assist Mode: The motor provides assistance as you pedal, with the level of assistance adjustable via PAS settings.
  • Pedal Mode: Ride the bike like a traditional bicycle without motor assistance.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your TST Electric Bike R004.

  • Battery Care: Charge the 48V/25AH battery fully after each ride. Avoid completely draining the battery. Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
  • Tire Pressure: Regularly check and maintain the recommended tire pressure for the 20"x4.0" fat tires.
  • Brakes: Inspect brake pads and rotors for wear. Adjust or replace as necessary to ensure optimal braking performance.
  • Chain and Gears: Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Ensure the 7-speed Shimano gears shift smoothly.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness.
  • Cleaning: Clean the bike with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure water jets directly on electrical components.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TST Electric Bike R004, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Bike not powering on: Check if the battery is fully charged and properly seated. Ensure the master power switch on the battery and the power button on the handlebar are both engaged.
  • Motor not assisting: Verify that the pedal assist level is not set to 0. Check if the brake levers are fully released, as they cut motor power.
  • Brakes feel weak: Inspect brake pads for wear and ensure cables (for mechanical brakes) or fluid (for hydraulic brakes, if applicable) are in good condition. Adjust as needed.
  • Unusual noises: Check for loose components, rubbing parts (e.g., brake rotors), or issues with the chain or gears.
  • Reduced range: This can be due to low tire pressure, riding in higher assist modes, frequent use of the throttle, or riding against strong headwinds.

For persistent issues, please contact customer support.
