2. Safety Information

WARNING: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, when operating this tool.

  • Ensure the work area is clear of obstructions and well-lit.
  • Handle the steel strip with care. Although designed with smooth edges to prevent hand injuries, caution is advised.
  • Do not force the steel strip if it encounters significant resistance; this may damage the tool or the pipe.
  • Keep children and bystanders away from the work area during operation.
  • After use, always retract the steel strip in the original winding direction. Reverse insertion will damage its toughness and cause breakage.

3. Product Overview

The MLYAYE Snake Unclog Drain Tool is a manual drain auger designed for clearing tough blockages in outdoor drainage systems. It features a durable manganese steel strip with a hardened impact head for effective clog removal.

4. Setup

Before operation, ensure the steel strip is properly uncoiled and ready for insertion into the drainage pipe.

  1. Place the cross-shaped storage rack on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Carefully uncoil the steel strip from the storage rack, laying it flat on the ground to prevent kinks.
  3. Ensure the impact head is securely attached to the end of the steel strip.

Refer to the video below for a visual guide on uncoiling and preparing the tool.

Video 4.1: Tool Preparation and Operation. This video demonstrates the process of uncoiling the MLYAYE Snake Unclog Drain Tool, inserting it into a drain, and recoiling it after use. It provides a visual guide for proper setup and operation.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to effectively clear blockages in your outdoor drainage pipes.

  • Diagram showing usage instructions for the drain tool, including how to insert the tape, push/pull to clear blockages, and clean after use.

Image 5.1: Operation Guide. This image provides a visual guide to the usage instructions, detailing the process of inserting the steel tape, manipulating it to clear blockages, and the importance of cleaning and proper recoiling.

  1. Prepare the Steel Tape: Lay the steel tape flat on the ground and fully extend it. Do not release it until it is secured.
  2. Insert into Pipe: Hold the handle gently with your left hand and slowly insert the punched end (impact head) into the pipe with your right hand.
  3. Clear Blockage: When resistance is felt, grip the handle firmly with your left hand and use a push-pull motion with both hands to break up the blockage. The rolling ball handle assists in this process.
  4. Navigate Bends: Note that steel-belted drain snakes cannot clear pipes with sharp bends. Clean such bends from both ends if necessary.
  5. Withdraw the Tool: Once the blockage is cleared and water flow is restored, carefully withdraw the steel strip from the pipe.

For a visual demonstration of the operation, refer to Video 4.1 in the Setup section.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your drain tool.

  • Image showing the Portable Cross Storage Rack with the steel strip coiled around it, and a warning about coiling direction.

Image 6.1: Portable Cross Storage Rack. This image displays the storage rack and emphasizes the correct method of coiling the steel strip in its original direction to prevent damage and ensure future usability.

  1. Clean After Use: After each use, wipe the steel tape dry to remove any debris or moisture.
  2. Lubricate: Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the steel strip to prevent rust and corrosion.
  3. Proper Coiling: Always coil the steel strip back onto the storage rack in its original winding direction. Coiling in reverse will damage the strip's toughness and can lead to breakage.
  4. Storage: Store the tool in a dry place, secured on its cross-shaped storage rack, away from extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your MLYAYE Snake Unclog Drain Tool.

  • Tool not advancing: If the tool stops advancing, it may have encountered a solid blockage or a sharp bend. Try rotating the tool or applying gentle push-pull motions. If it still doesn't advance, withdraw the tool and inspect the pipe for obstructions or consider accessing the pipe from another entry point if possible.
  • Difficulty retracting: If the tool is difficult to retract, ensure it is not caught on an obstruction. Gently pull and rotate the tool. Do not force it, as this can cause damage.
  • Steel strip deformation: While the manganese steel is designed for flexibility, improper handling or forcing it against immovable objects can cause deformation. Always follow the operating instructions and avoid excessive force.
