6. Setup & Installation
6.1 Initial Voltage Check
Before connecting batteries in series or parallel, it is crucial to test the voltage of each individual battery. Ensure that the voltage of each battery is consistent, or the difference between batteries is no more than 0.1V. If the voltage difference is too large, use a compatible charger to bring the batteries to a consistent voltage before proceeding with connections.
6.2 Parallel Connection
To increase the total capacity, you can connect multiple Dumfume 12V 314Ah batteries in parallel. This creates a higher amp-hour system while maintaining the 12V nominal voltage. For example, connecting two 12V 314Ah batteries in parallel will create a 12V 628Ah system. Ensure all batteries are of the same brand, type, voltage, capacity, and BMS, and were purchased around the same time. Fully charge each battery separately to a voltage at rest of >13.4V. Connect the batteries one by one in parallel and leave them together for 1-2 hours for balancing.
6.3 Series Connection
For higher voltage systems, you can connect multiple batteries in series. The Dumfume 12V 314Ah battery supports up to 4S4P configurations. When connecting in series, the voltage adds up (e.g., two 12V batteries in series create a 24V system), while the amp-hour capacity remains the same as a single battery. Always ensure voltage consistency between batteries before making series connections.

6.4 Controller/Inverter Settings
When integrating the battery with a solar charge controller or inverter, configure the settings according to the battery's specifications. If using multiple batteries in series, multiply the single battery voltage settings by the number of batteries in series.

7. Operation

8. Maintenance & Storage
- For optimal storage and to maintain battery health during extended periods of non-use, perform a full charge/discharge cycle every 6 months.
- Ensure the battery is stored within the recommended temperature range of -10°C to 45°C.
- Battery performance requires temperatures of 5°C or higher. Operating below this temperature may affect efficiency.
9. Troubleshooting
The built-in BMS provides comprehensive protection and can indicate potential issues. Refer to your smartphone app for detailed fault indicators if available.
- Overcharge Protection: The BMS will stop charging if the voltage exceeds the safe limit (14.6V + 0.1V).
- Over-discharge Protection: The BMS will disconnect the load if the voltage drops below the safe limit (9.2V ± 0.12V).
- Over-current Protection: The BMS will cut off current if it exceeds 200A continuously.
- Short Circuit Protection: The BMS will immediately cut off power in case of a short circuit.
- High/Low Temperature Protection: Charging will stop if the temperature is below 0°C or above 65°C. Discharging will stop if the temperature is below -20°C or above 70°C.
- Battery Not Recognized by Charger: Ensure you are using a LiFePO4 battery charger with an activation function, especially if the battery's voltage is very low.
