6. Operating

6.1 Connecting Multiple Devices

The SRT858M router supports connecting up to 128 devices simultaneously. You can connect devices via Wi-Fi or the available Ethernet LAN port.

6.2 Dual-Band Wi-Fi

The router operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. The 2.4 GHz band offers wider coverage and better penetration through walls, while the 5 GHz band provides faster speeds and lower latency, ideal for streaming and gaming. Your devices will automatically connect to the optimal band, or you can manually select them if your router broadcasts separate SSIDs for each band.

6.3 Accessing the Web Interface

To manage router settings, such as changing Wi-Fi name/password, network configurations, or parental controls, access the web interface:

  1. Open a web browser on a device connected to the router.
  2. Enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1) into the address bar and press Enter. This IP address is also found on the bottom label of your router.
  3. Enter the default Username (admin) and Password (admin@5GCPE) when prompted. These credentials are on the bottom label.
  4. You can now configure your router settings. It is recommended to change the default Wi-Fi password and router login password for security.

7. Maintenance

  • Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that may cause interference, to maximize Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the router. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the router's web interface for available firmware updates. Keeping your firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance and security.
  • Restarting: If you experience network issues, try restarting the router by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 No Internet Connection

  • Check if the 5G/4G LED indicator is solid green or blue. If not, ensure your SIM card is correctly inserted and has an active data plan.
  • Verify that the router is receiving power and all cables are securely connected.
  • Restart the router and your connected device.
  • Access the web interface to check the network status and ensure the APN settings are correct for your mobile operator.

8.2 Slow Internet Speeds

  • Ensure the router is placed in an open area, away from obstacles and potential interference sources.
  • Check if too many devices are connected and actively using bandwidth.
  • Try connecting to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band if available, as it generally offers faster speeds.
  • Perform a speed test to confirm the actual speed you are receiving.

8.3 Wi-Fi Disconnections

  • Move closer to the router to improve signal strength.
  • Check for sources of interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
  • Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.
