6. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to create a precise mortise for your door latch.

  1. Secure the Tool: Hold the tool firmly against the door, ensuring it does not shift during operation. The ergonomic grip handle helps prevent slipping.
  2. Create the Outline: Using a hammer, gently strike the Strike Head of the tool. This action will engage the Outline Blades, scoring the precise contour for the latch plate.

  3. Remove Material: Once the outline is scored, the Mortise Blade will remove the material within the contour area. The specially treated blades are designed for sharpness and accuracy, capable of tackling both softwood and hardwood. Continue to apply gentle pressure or tap the tool as needed to remove the wood until the desired depth is achieved for a flush latch mounting.
