This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your KCISM iPad Keyboard Case.

1. Compatibility

This keyboard case is designed for specific iPad models. Please verify your iPad model number on the back of your device before use to ensure proper fit and functionality.

2. Setup

2.1 Attaching Your iPad

The case features a magnetic design for easy attachment. Simply align your iPad with the magnetic back panel of the case. The strong magnets will secure your iPad in place, allowing for quick setup and removal.

2.2 Bluetooth Pairing

Follow these steps to connect your keyboard case to your iPad via Bluetooth:

  1. Turn on the Keyboard: Locate the power switch on the keyboard and turn it on. A red power light will illuminate for 3 seconds and then turn off, indicating the keyboard is activated.
  2. Enter Pairing Mode: Press the FN key and the | key simultaneously. The white Bluetooth indicator light will flash once per second, signifying that the keyboard is in pairing mode.
  3. Enable iPad Bluetooth: On your iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
  4. Select Keyboard: In the list of available devices, search for and select “BT5.0 Keyboard”. Tap to connect.

Note: Once successfully paired, your iPad and keyboard will automatically reconnect when the keyboard is powered on, provided Bluetooth is enabled on your iPad. Re-pairing is not typically needed.

2.3 Charging the Keyboard

The keyboard is equipped with a 650mAh battery and supports USB-C fast charging. To charge, connect a USB-C cable to the keyboard's charging port and a power source. A full charge provides up to 346 hours of usage.

3. Operation

3.1 Adjusting the Floating Stand

The magnetic design allows for an easy-set floating stand. Once your iPad is magnetically attached, you can adjust the viewing angle up to 135 degrees to suit your preference for typing, viewing, or drawing.

3.2 Using the Backlit Keyboard

The keyboard features a 7-color backlight with 3 adjustable brightness levels for comfortable typing in any lighting condition.

  • Changing Backlight Color: Press the RGB key to cycle through the 7 available colors.
  • Adjusting Brightness: Press the Sun icon key to cycle through the 3 brightness levels (low, medium, high) or turn the backlight off.

3.3 Using the Multi-Touch Trackpad and iPadOS Shortcuts

The integrated precision trackpad supports multi-touch gestures for enhanced navigation. A full row of iPadOS shortcut keys provides quick access to common functions.

Common Trackpad Gestures:

  • Single Finger Tap: Click/Select
  • Two Finger Scroll: Scroll up/down/left/right
  • Pinch to Zoom: Zoom in/out
  • Swipe Up with Three Fingers: Go to Home Screen
  • Swipe Left/Right with Three Fingers: Switch between open apps

The top row of keys provides quick access to functions such as brightness control, volume adjustment, media playback, and more.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Care

  • Keep the keyboard case clean by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Do not expose the case to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Avoid placing heavy objects on the case to prevent damage to the keyboard or iPad.

4.2 Battery Care

  • For optimal battery life, charge the keyboard regularly and avoid fully draining the battery frequently.
  • If storing the keyboard for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% to prevent deep discharge.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Keyboard Not Connecting via Bluetooth

  • Ensure Keyboard is On: Verify the power switch is in the ON position.
  • Check Battery: Make sure the keyboard is sufficiently charged. Connect it to a USB-C charger if needed.
  • Re-pair Device: If previously paired, try forgetting the device on your iPad's Bluetooth settings and then re-pair following the steps in Section 2.2.
  • Restart Devices: Turn off and restart both your iPad and the keyboard.

5.2 Trackpad Not Responding

  • Check Bluetooth Connection: Ensure the keyboard is properly connected to your iPad via Bluetooth.
  • Restart Keyboard/iPad: Turn off and on the keyboard, and restart your iPad.
  • Clean Trackpad: Ensure the trackpad surface is clean and free of debris.

5.3 Backlight Not Working

  • Check Brightness Levels: Press the Sun icon key to cycle through brightness levels.
  • Ensure Keyboard is Charged: Low battery may affect backlight functionality.

5.4 iPad Not Attaching Securely

  • Verify Compatibility: Double-check that your iPad model is listed as compatible in Section 1.
  • Clean Surfaces: Ensure both the iPad's back and the case's magnetic surface are clean and free of dust or obstructions.
