Introduction and Safety Information

Thank you for choosing the PARKSIDE PERFORMANCE Cordless Jigsaw PPSTDA 20 V. This manual provides important information for the safe operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your tool. Please read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

General Safety Warnings

• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves when operating the jigsaw.
• Ensure your work area is clean, well-lit, and free from obstructions.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
• Always disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the power tool.
• Use only PARKSIDE X 20 V Team series batteries and recommended chargers.
• Secure the workpiece before cutting to prevent movement.
• Avoid unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

Setup

1. Battery Installation and Removal

1. To install the battery: Align the battery pack with the tool's battery port and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
2. To remove the battery: Press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery pack out.

Note: The recommended battery is a 20 V / 4 Ah Smart PAPS 204 A1. Battery and charger are sold separately.

2. Saw Blade Installation

The jigsaw features a quick-change system for easy saw blade replacement.

1. Ensure the battery is removed from the tool.
2. Open the quick-release lever or mechanism for the blade holder.
3. Insert the saw blade into the blade holder with the teeth facing forward. Ensure it is fully seated.
4. Close the quick-release lever or mechanism to secure the blade. Gently pull on the blade to confirm it is locked.

3. Adjusting the Base Plate and Cutting Angle

The base plate can be adjusted for various cutting angles (5 selectable angles).

1. Loosen the screws or lever that secure the base plate.
2. Adjust the base plate to the desired angle. Common angles are 0°, 15°, 30°, and 45°.
3. Tighten the screws or lever to secure the base plate in position.

4. Dust Extraction Connection

An adapter for external dust extraction is included to keep your work area clean.

1. Attach the dust extraction adapter to the designated port on the jigsaw.
2. Connect a suitable vacuum cleaner hose to the adapter.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off and Speed Control

• To turn on: Press the ON/OFF switch.
• To turn off: Release the ON/OFF switch.
• The jigsaw features a 7-level adjustable stroke speed (6 selectable levels + 1 automatic mode) via the control panel. Adjust the speed according to the material being cut.

2. Pendulum Stroke Adjustment

The 3-level adjustable pendulum stroke allows for faster cutting progress in various materials. Precision cutting can be achieved without the pendulum stroke.

1. Adjust the pendulum stroke lever to the desired setting (0 for no pendulum, 1-3 for increasing pendulum action).
2. Use higher pendulum settings for faster, rougher cuts in softer materials.
3. Use lower or no pendulum settings for finer, more precise cuts in harder materials or when cutting curves.

3. LED Work Light and Blower Function

• The integrated LED work light illuminates the cutting area. It has two functions: illumination before machine start and post-illumination after the tool is turned off.
• The blower function helps keep the cutting line clear of sawdust, ensuring a splinter-free cut.

4. Cutting Techniques

• Straight Cuts: Use a straight edge or the parallel guide (Figure 3) to guide the jigsaw for accurate straight cuts.
• Curved Cuts: Use a fine-tooth blade and a lower speed setting. Apply steady, even pressure and guide the saw along the desired curve.
• Plunge Cuts: For internal cuts without a pilot hole, tilt the saw forward so the front of the base plate rests on the workpiece. Start the saw, then slowly lower the blade into the material. Exercise extreme caution.
• Always allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the workpiece.
• Do not force the tool; let the blade do the work.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your PARKSIDE PERFORMANCE Cordless Jigsaw.

1. Cleaning

• Always disconnect the battery before cleaning.
• Clean the ventilation openings and the tool housing regularly with a soft brush or compressed air.
• Remove any sawdust or debris from the blade holder and base plate area.
• Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

2. Blade Care

• Inspect saw blades before each use for damage or dullness. Replace worn or damaged blades immediately.
• Store blades in a dry place to prevent rust.

3. Storage

Store the jigsaw and its accessories in the provided practical storage case (Figure 5) in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
