1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your LIPULS 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and operation to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your battery. This battery is designed for energy storage applications and is suitable for various uses including RVs, camping, solar systems, and trolling motors.

2. Safety Guidelines

  • Always wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection and gloves when working on batteries.
  • Do not disassemble the cells. Disassembly may generate an internal short circuit, causing gassing, firing, or explosion.
  • Do not soak the battery in water, seawater, or non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Never attempt to charge a battery when the temperature is below 32°F (0°C) or above 113°F (45°C).
  • Never store batteries below 30% state of charge.
  • Do not use this battery for engine starting or golf cart applications.

4. Installation

The LIPULS 12.8V 100Ah-G24 battery is designed for easy installation as a direct replacement for Group 24, 27, or 31 lead-acid batteries. Ensure proper terminal connections and secure mounting.

  • Battery Orientation: The battery is upright as the bottom of the case is flat. It can be placed on its short sides or long side, but always with the positive side up.
  • Terminal Connection: Use the provided M8 terminals (12mm and 16mm lengths) to securely connect your cables. Tightly screw in the post bolts to prevent heat buildup.
  • Placement: Ensure at least 4 inches of space around all sides and the top of the battery for proper ventilation. The battery case is non-combustible.

5. Charging

The material characteristics of LiFePO4 batteries differ from lead-acid batteries. Therefore, it is recommended to select a specific LiFePO4 charger for your charging mode.

  • Recommended Charging Voltage: Between 13.8V to 14.6V.
  • Recommended Charging Current: 20A (0.2C). The battery will be fully charged in approximately 5 hours to 100% capacity.
  • Solar Charging: For solar panel systems, a power output of >550W is recommended for full charge within one day (with effective sunshine 5 hours/day).
  • Alternator/Generator Charging: If using an alternator or generator, a DC-to-DC charger is needed to be added between the battery and the generator to ensure proper charging.

7. Storage & Maintenance

  • Long-Term Storage: A fully charged LIPULS 12V battery can be safely stored in climate-controlled conditions for up to one year. It is recommended to check the battery state of charge every 4-6 months.
  • Temperature: The battery can be operated at a temperature of -4°F to 95°F (-20°C to 35°C). Store in a fireproof container and away from children.
  • Capacity: For prolonged storage, it is best to store your battery at a 50% charge level and recharge every 3 months if it is not being used for a long time.
  • Avoid Prolonged Discharge: Never put the battery into prolonged storage below 30% state of charge.

8. Troubleshooting

If the battery stops working, it may be due to the BMS shutting off for protection. Follow these general steps to reactivate it:

  1. Cut off all connections from the battery.
  2. Leave the battery aside for 30 minutes. The battery will automatically recover itself to a normal voltage (>10V) and can then be fully charged.
  3. If the battery is unable to recover itself after the above steps, try activating it by using a charger with a 0V charging function to fully charge the battery.
