5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle and ensure optimal performance.

Exterior Cleaning:

  • Wipe the exterior surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the finish.
  • Never immerse the kettle body or power base in water or any other liquid.

Interior Cleaning and Descaling:

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. Descale regularly to maintain efficiency.

  3. Allow the solution to soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup.
  4. Pour out the solution and rinse the interior thoroughly with fresh water several times.
  5. Boil fresh water in the kettle and discard it to remove any residual vinegar taste.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your electric kettle, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Kettle does not turn on:
    • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Check that the kettle is correctly seated on its power base.
    • Verify the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Water is not boiling:
    • Confirm the power switch is engaged.
    • Check for power supply issues (e.g., tripped circuit breaker).
  • Kettle switches off too quickly or before boiling:
    • This may indicate limescale buildup. Perform a descaling procedure as described in the 'Maintenance and Cleaning' section.
    • Ensure the lid is properly closed.
  • Water has an unusual taste:
    • Perform the initial cleaning steps again (boil and discard water several times).
    • Descale the kettle if limescale is present.
