2. Safety Information
- Always ensure the roof rack is securely installed and all fasteners are tightened before driving.
- Regularly check the tightness of all mounting hardware, especially before and after long trips, or after driving on rough terrain. Loose components can lead to detachment and potential hazards.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 155 lbs (70 kg). Overloading can damage the roof rack, your vehicle, and create unsafe driving conditions.
- Distribute the load evenly across the cross bars. Secure all cargo firmly to prevent shifting during transit.
- Be aware of the increased height and width of your vehicle when the roof rack is installed and loaded. Exercise caution when entering garages, car washes, or areas with low overhead clearance.
- This roof rack is designed for 4 or 5-door vehicles with bare roofs. It is not recommended for 2-door models or vehicles with raised side rails, fixed points, or flush rails.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- 2 x Roof Rack Cross Bars
- 2 x Keys (for locking mechanism)
- 1 x Allen Key (M5)
- Mounting hardware (various clamps, rubber pads, and strips)

4. Setup and Installation
These cross bars are designed for vehicles with a "naked" or bare roof, meaning no existing side rails, fixed points, or flush rails. Installation typically takes approximately 10 minutes.
4.1 Vehicle Compatibility
This product is suitable for 4 or 5-door vehicles with bare roofs. It is not recommended for 2-door models or vehicles with other roof types.

4.2 Measurement and Model Selection
Before installation, measure the inner distance between your vehicle's roof gutters and the distance from the gutter to the window to ensure proper fitment.

Image 4.2.1: Diagram showing how to measure the inner distance between roof gutters and the gutter-to-window distance for proper crossbar selection.
| Inner Distance Between Roof Gutters | Gutter to Window Distance (Ratchet Strap with Adjustable Length) | Compatible Crossbar Length | Item Model Number |
|---|---|---|---|
| 41.3-42.9 in / 1050-1090 mm | 2.4 in / 60 mm | 42.5 in / 1080 mm | HJ-RB017-108CM |
4.3 Installation Steps
- Step 1: Mount the base on the crossbar. Attach the mounting feet to the aluminum crossbar. Ensure they are oriented correctly.
- Step 2: Attach the rubber pad under the base. Place the protective rubber pads onto the underside of the mounting feet. These pads protect your vehicle's paint from scratches.
- Step 3: Adjust the strip and rubber sleeve. Position the crossbar on your vehicle's roof. Adjust the retractable strap and rubber sleeve to match the distance between the window and the bracket. The metal sheet can be adjusted to fit your vehicle's roof contour.
- Step 4: Insert the strip and lock it. Securely insert the strap into the locking mechanism and tighten it until the crossbar is firmly attached to the roof. Repeat the process for the second crossbar. Use the provided Allen key to ensure all connections are tight.

After installation, ensure both cross bars are parallel and evenly spaced. Double-check all connections for tightness. The anti-theft lock system can then be engaged using the provided keys for added security.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Load Capacity
The VEVOR Universal Roof Rack Cross Bars have a maximum load capacity of 155 lbs (70 kg). This capacity allows for the transport of various items such as luggage racks, surfboards, camping gear, mountain bikes, and skis. Always adhere to this limit to prevent damage and ensure safety.

5.2 Securing Cargo
Always use appropriate tie-downs, straps, or cargo nets to secure items to the cross bars. Ensure cargo is centered and distributed evenly to maintain vehicle balance. Periodically check cargo security during long journeys.
5.3 Anti-Theft Lock System
The cross bars are equipped with an anti-theft lock system. Once installed and tightened, use the provided keys to lock the mounting feet. This secures the cross bars to your vehicle and prevents unauthorized removal.

6. Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the cross bars, mounting feet, straps, and all fasteners for any signs of wear, damage, or looseness.
- Tightness Check: It is crucial to check the tightness of all mounting hardware before every use, especially after initial installation, long drives, or driving on uneven roads. Loose connections can compromise safety.
- Cleaning: Clean the aluminum cross bars and plastic components with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Storage: If removing the roof rack for extended periods, store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan.
7. Troubleshooting
- Issue: Cross bars feel loose after installation or during use.
- Solution: Re-check and tighten all mounting straps and Allen bolts. Ensure the metal sheet is properly adjusted to match the roof contour. It is critical to check tightness before every use.
- Issue: Excessive wind noise or whistling.
- Solution: The aerodynamic design minimizes noise, but some wind noise is normal, especially at higher speeds or with certain cargo. Ensure no gaps exist between the rubber pads and the vehicle roof. Verify that the cross bars are installed correctly and not twisted. Adjusting the position slightly may help.
- Issue: Difficulty locking the anti-theft mechanism.
- Solution: Ensure the locking mechanism is free of debris. Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant if the key is stiff. Do not force the key.
