1. Introduction

The Berrcom Fingertip Pulse Oximeter (Model YM302) is a portable, non-invasive device designed for spot-checking blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate (PR) in adults and pediatric users. It is intended for use in sports and aviation for wellness tracking, and not for medical diagnosis or treatment. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of the device.

3.2 Device Features

The oximeter features a compact design with a bright LED display for clear readings. It includes a silicone shading design to prevent external light interference and ensure accurate measurements.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Attaching the Lanyard

Thread the thin loop of the lanyard through the hole on the side of the oximeter. Then, thread the thicker part of the lanyard through the thin loop and pull to secure it.

5. Operation

5.1 Taking a Measurement

1. Open Oximeter: Press the top and bottom of the oximeter to open the finger chamber.
2. Place Finger: Insert one of your fingers (preferably the index finger) into the rubber opening of the oximeter, ensuring your nail is facing upwards towards the display.
3. Press Power Button: Press the power button once to turn on the oximeter.
4. Wait for Results: Keep your hand still. The device will automatically begin measuring and display your SpO2, PR, PI, and pulse waveform within 5-8 seconds.

5.2 Interpreting Readings

• SpO2: Blood Oxygen Saturation level.
• PR: Pulse Rate, measured in beats per minute (BPM).
• PI: Perfusion Index, indicating the strength of the pulse signal.
• Pulse Waveform: A graphical representation of your pulse.
• Battery Level: Indicates remaining battery power.

5.3 Smart Features

• Auto-Off: The device automatically powers off 8 seconds after your finger is removed to conserve battery life.
• Intelligent Alerts: Audible and visual alarms will activate if your SpO2 falls below 94% or your pulse rate goes outside the 50-130 BPM range.
• Memory Function: The oximeter stores up to 20 sets of readings to help track trends over time.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

• Clean the surface of the oximeter with a soft cloth dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
• Do not immerse the device in liquid.
• Ensure the device is completely dry before reuse.

6.2 Storage

• Store the oximeter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

6.3 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace the AAA batteries as described in the 'Battery Installation' section.

7. Troubleshooting

• No Display/Device Not Turning On: Check battery polarity and ensure batteries are correctly installed. Replace batteries if necessary.
• 'Finger Out' Message: Ensure your finger is fully inserted into the finger chamber and is resting flat on the sensor. Keep your hand still during measurement.
• Inaccurate Readings: Ensure your finger is clean and free of nail polish or artificial nails. Avoid excessive movement during measurement. Cold fingers can also affect accuracy; warm your hand before use.
• Display Orientation: The display orientation may change with each press of the power button while the device is on. This is a feature, not a malfunction.
