1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

WARNING: Always follow basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

  • Personal Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Avoid loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts.
  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Keep children and bystanders away while operating the tool.
  • Tool Handling: Keep hands and body parts away from the blade. Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. Ensure the safety switch is engaged when not in use or during maintenance.

4. Assembly

The YARDFORCE High Branch Pruner can be used in two configurations: handheld or with the extension pole.

4.1 Attaching the Extension Pole

To use the pruner for high branches, attach the main pruner unit to the extension pole. Ensure the connection is secure. The pole is telescopic, allowing adjustment of the overall length from 150cm to 217cm. A shoulder strap is included for comfortable use with the pole.

4.2 Handheld Use

For closer pruning or fruit harvesting, the main pruner unit can be detached from the pole and used as a handheld tool.

5. Charging the Battery

The pruner is powered by a 12V Lithium-Ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  • Insert the 12V Lithium-Ion battery into the provided charger.
  • Plug the charger into a standard 100V power outlet.
  • The charging indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.
  • A full charge takes approximately 120 minutes.
  • Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the power outlet and remove the battery.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

The pruner features a double switch safety mechanism to prevent accidental operation. To activate the blade, you must press both safety switches simultaneously. Release the switches to stop the blade.

6.2 Pruning Branches

  • Position the blade around the branch you wish to cut. The maximum cutting capacity is 1.5cm in diameter for fresh wood.
  • Ensure the branch is fully seated within the blade opening.
  • Engage the double safety switch and press the trigger to activate the electric cutting action.
  • Allow the blade to cut through the branch completely. Do not twist or pull the tool during cutting.

6.3 Branch Catch Blade for Fruit Harvesting

The pruner is equipped with a branch catch blade, which helps to hold cut branches or fruits, preventing them from falling to the ground. This feature is particularly useful for harvesting fruits.

6.4 Adjusting Pole Handle Angle

The angle of the pole handle can be adjusted for ergonomic comfort and better reach. Press the angle adjustment button (refer to Figure 2) and set the handle to your desired position, then release the button to lock it in place.

7. Maintenance

  • Blade Care: After each use, clean the blades of sap and debris using a damp cloth. Apply a light coat of oil to the blades to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
  • Cleaning: Wipe down the main unit and pole with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the pruner in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children. Ensure the battery is removed if storing for extended periods.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Pruner not operating: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Check that both safety switches are pressed simultaneously before engaging the trigger.
  • Reduced cutting performance: The blades may be dull or dirty. Clean and lubricate the blades. If dull, consider professional sharpening or blade replacement.
  • Battery not charging: Ensure the charger is properly plugged into a working 100V outlet and the battery is correctly seated in the charger. Check for any visible damage to the charger or battery.
