4. Setup & Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up your PONDFORSE canister filter:

4.1. Prepare the Filter Unit

1. Release the 4 lock clips on the sides of the canister.
2. Hold either the inlet or outlet valve and pull upward to disassemble the motor unit from the filter case.
3. Gently shake the motor unit to check if the built-in UV lamp's glass cover is intact.
4. Remove the filter plate and media baskets. Place the included bio balls, black coarse sponge, and white fine sponge into the media baskets. Ensure media is rinsed thoroughly before placement.
5. Reassemble the media baskets and place them back into the filter case, followed by the filter plate.
6. Carefully place the motor unit back onto the filter case, ensuring it aligns correctly. Secure the 4 lock clips.

4.2. Assemble & Connect Hoses

1. Assemble the water inlet and outlet tubes according to the diagrams. Ensure all parts are securely connected.
2. Connect the PVC hoses to the assembled inlet and outlet tubes, screwing them tight.
3. Connect the PVC hose of the assembled inlet tube to the 'IN' valve on the motor unit and screw tight.
4. Connect the PVC hose of the assembled outlet tube to the 'OUT' valve on the motor unit and screw tight.
5. Position the filter unit 40-110cm below the water level for optimal siphoning efficiency. Ensure PVC hoses are not twisted; cut to length if necessary to avoid affecting the siphon effect.

4.3. Priming the Filter

1. Before adding water, adjust the flow control valve to the minimum flow end.
2. Unscrew the water filling cap of the water inlet tube. Add water from a nozzle to fill the inlet tube until water flows into the filter.
3. Screw the inlet tube plug along the "+" direction until the water flow is maximum.
4. Plug in the filter. If remaining air in the tube cannot be exhausted, pump out with the lift-check valve handle on the motor unit until water flows smoothly.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Adjusting Water Flow Rate

The filter features an adjustable flow rate control valve. Rotate the red lever on the motor unit to increase or decrease the water flow to match your aquarium's specific requirements. Adjusting the flow rate allows you to optimize circulation and filtration efficiency.

5.2. UV Light Operation

The integrated UV light can be turned on or off independently using the dedicated waterproof switch on the motor unit. Turn on the UV light to sterilize water, reduce algae, and eliminate harmful bacteria. Monitor the small indicator light to confirm UV operation.

6.1. Cleaning the Impeller

1. Unlock the black handle toggle valve on the valve base and pull upward to disassemble the motor unit.

3. Remove the impeller lid and carefully extract the impeller for cleaning.
4. Clean the impeller and its housing with a soft brush to remove any debris or buildup.
5. Reassemble the impeller and lid, tightening the screws.

6.2. Cleaning the UV Quartz Tube

1. Unscrew the screws of the UV light case in the motor unit.
2. Remove the UV light case and carefully clean the surface of the quartz tube with a soft cloth to remove any algae or mineral deposits.
3. Reassemble the UV light case, ensuring it is securely tightened.

6.3. Replacing Filter Media

Rinse or replace filter media as needed. Bio balls can be rinsed in old aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria. Sponges should be rinsed or replaced when they become clogged. Replace the UV bulb approximately every 6 months or when its effectiveness diminishes.
