3.3 Outdoor Sensor Installation

The outdoor sensor (Integrated Wind Sensor) should be mounted in an open area to ensure accurate readings for wind speed and direction. It should be at least 4.92 feet (1.5 meters) off the ground.

  1. Assemble the mounting pole and attach the Integrated Wind Sensor.
  2. Choose a location free from obstructions (trees, buildings) that could interfere with wind flow or sunlight for the solar panel.
  3. Mount the sensor assembly using the provided foot mounting or mounting bracket back plate. Options include vertical installation on a pole or horizontal installation on a flat surface.
  4. Ensure the solar panel on the wind sensor faces south for optimal charging.

  • Periodically check the outdoor wind cups and wind vane for debris (leaves, insects) that could impede movement.

5.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries in the sensors and display console (if using backup) when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

  • Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new ones of the same type.
  • Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

5.3 Sensor Placement Considerations

Ensure the outdoor sensor remains in an optimal location for accurate readings.

  • Avoid placing the outdoor sensor near heat sources (e.g., vents, direct sunlight on dark surfaces) or obstructions that block wind.
  • For indoor sensors, avoid direct sunlight, drafts, or proximity to heating/cooling vents.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No outdoor temperature/humidity readingDead batteries in outdoor sensor; Sensor out of range; Interference.Replace batteries in the outdoor sensor. Move sensor closer to the display console. Ensure no major obstructions. Reset the display console and sensor.
Inaccurate indoor temperatureDisplay console placed near heat source or draft.Relocate the display console to a more stable environment, away from direct sunlight, vents, or windows.
Wind speed/direction not updatingObstruction of wind cups/vane; Sensor battery low.Check for and clear any debris on the wind cups or vane. Replace batteries in the Integrated Wind Sensor.
