3. Setup and Assembly

Your MASTER COOK Portable Gas Grill requires some assembly. Follow these steps carefully.

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and ensure all components listed in Section 2 are present.
2. Assemble Legs: Attach the foldable legs to the main grill body. Ensure they are securely fastened.
3. Install Burner and Heat Deflector: Place the burner assembly into its designated position. Then, install the heat deflector (burner cover) over the burner. Note: Some users have found it easier to install the heat deflector before attaching any handles that might obstruct access.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Lighting the Grill

1. Ensure the grill is on a stable, level surface and away from combustible materials.
2. Open the grill lid.
3. Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
4. Slowly open the valve on the propane cylinder.
5. Hold a long lighter or match near the burner ports.
6. Turn the control knob slowly to the "HIGH" position. The burner should ignite immediately.
7. If the burner does not ignite within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to "OFF", close the propane cylinder valve, wait 5 minutes for gas to dissipate, and repeat the lighting procedure.

4.2. Heat Control

The grill features an easy-to-adjust heat knob for precise temperature control. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the flame intensity as needed for your cooking requirements.

4.3. Cooking

The 218 square inch cooking area is suitable for grilling various foods. Place food directly on the porcelain-coated grates. Close the lid to retain heat and cook food more evenly.

4.4. Shutting Down the Grill

1. Turn the control knob to the "OFF" position.
2. Close the valve on the propane cylinder.
3. Allow the grill to cool completely before moving or cleaning.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your grill.

• After Each Use:
  • Once the grill has cooled, remove the cooking grate.
  • Scrape off any food residue from the grates using a grill brush. The porcelain-coated grates are designed for easy cleanup.
  • Wipe down the interior and exterior surfaces with a damp cloth.
• Periodically:
  • Clean the burner ports to ensure proper gas flow. Use a wire brush or a stiff wire to clear any obstructions.
  • Inspect the gas hose for any cuts, abrasions, or wear. Replace if damaged.
  • Perform a leak test regularly, especially after long periods of storage or if the grill has been moved.
• Storage:
  • Disconnect the propane cylinder when storing the grill.

6. Troubleshooting

• Burner Not Lighting:
  • Ensure the propane cylinder valve is fully open.
  • Check for gas flow by listening for a hiss when the control knob is turned to "HIGH" (after opening the cylinder valve).
  • Verify that the igniting flame (from your lighter or match) is directly at the burner ports.
  • Perform a leak test to ensure no gas is escaping from connections.
  • Check if burner ports are clogged. Clean if necessary.
• Low Flame or Uneven Heat:
  • Ensure the propane cylinder is not empty.
  • Check for obstructions in the burner ports or gas line.
  • Verify that the gas regulator is properly connected and not experiencing "bypass" (where gas flow is restricted due to rapid opening of the cylinder valve). Close the cylinder valve, disconnect and reconnect the regulator, then open the cylinder valve slowly.
• Gas Leak Smell:
  • Immediately turn off the gas at the propane cylinder.
  • Extinguish any open flames.
  • Move away from the grill.
  • Perform a leak test (as described in Setup) to identify the source. Do not use the grill until the leak is fixed.
• Structural Issues (e.g., weld for tank attachment):
  • If any structural components, such as welds for the tank attachment, appear damaged or broken, discontinue use immediately.
  • Do not attempt to repair structural damage yourself. Contact customer support for assistance.
