4. Setup and First Use

Follow these steps to set up your Portta VHS to Digital Converter.

  1. Connect Power: Connect the included power adapter to the 12V/1A Power Port on the converter and plug it into a power outlet. The device will power on automatically.
  2. Insert Storage: Insert a USB flash drive (formatted to NTFS for best performance) into the USB slot or a TF card into the TF card slot. The USB LED indicator will light up upon proper connection.
  3. Connect Input Source:
    • For AV (Composite) Input: Connect the yellow, white, and red RCA cables from your source device (e.g., VCR, DVD player) to the corresponding AV/CVBS Input ports on the converter. Ensure color matching.
    • For Component (YPbPr) Input: Connect the green, blue, and red RCA cables for video, and the white and red RCA cables for audio from your source device to the corresponding YPbPr Input ports on the converter.
  4. Select Input Source: Use the 'Input Selection' button on the device or remote to switch to the correct input source (AV, YPbPr, or AUX) that matches your connected device.
  5. Preview: The video feed from your source device should now be visible on the 5-inch HD LCD screen. You can also connect an external display via the HDTV Output (HDMI) for a larger view.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Recording Video

  1. Ensure your source device is playing the content you wish to record.
  2. Press the REC/STOP button on the converter or remote control to begin recording. The recording indicator will appear on the screen.
  3. To stop recording, press the REC/STOP button again. A "Saving..." message will appear, and the recorded file will be saved to your connected storage device.

5.2 Recording Audio (AUX Input)

The converter can also record audio only from an AUX input, saving it as an MP3 file.

  1. Connect your audio source to the AUX 3.5mm Input.
  2. Select AUX as the input source using the 'Input Selection' button.
  3. Press the REC/STOP button to start audio recording.
  4. Press REC/STOP again to stop and save the MP3 file.
