3. Installation Guide
The HEI LIANG HL-4 Smart Door Lock is designed for easy installation. A screwdriver is typically the only tool required.
3.1 Door Compatibility
- Door Thickness: 1-3/8 inches to 2-1/8 inches (35mm to 54mm).
- Backset: 2-3/8 inches or 2-3/4 inches (60mm or 70mm).
- Hole Diameter: 2-1/8 inches (54mm).

3.2 Installation Steps
- Prepare the Door: Ensure your door meets the compatibility requirements. If replacing an existing lock, remove it.
- Install the Latch Bolt: Insert the latch bolt into the door edge. Ensure the "UP" arrow on the latch is facing upwards.
- Install the Exterior Knob: Insert the exterior knob assembly through the door, aligning it with the latch bolt.
- Install the Interior Knob: When installing the inner knob, ensure both the outer and inner knobs are inserted according to the "UP" sign on the top. The spindle rod should be in a vertical position. Turn the adjustment arrow with your thumb to point to the center point and the "UP" symbol, then insert the arrow upward into the mounting base. Apply slight force to fully insert the back lock.
- Secure the Lock: Use the provided screws to secure both knob assemblies. Do not overtighten.
- Install Strike Plate: Install the strike plate on the door frame, aligning it with the latch bolt.
Important Note: Ensure the lock operates smoothly before closing the door completely.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Initial Setup and App Pairing
