Important Safety Information

Please read and follow all instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death. Keep this manual for future reference.

• This safety gate is designed for use with children from 6 to 24 months of age.
• The dog gate is intended for pets and is not certified for child safety.
• Never leave a child unattended.
• Always ensure the gate is securely latched and properly installed before use.
• Regularly check all parts for wear, damage, or loose components. Discontinue use if any part is damaged.
• Do not use the gate at the top of stairs without wall cups.
• The gate must be installed in a structurally sound opening.
• The gap between the gate frame and the wall/doorway is normal for pressure-mounted gates and will close as the pressure bolts are tightened. A 2.24-inch gap is present before full tightening.

Installation Guide

1. Measure Your Opening

Before installation, accurately measure the width of your opening. The Cumbor Baby Gate fits gaps from 29.7 to 48 inches. The Cumbor Dog Gate fits gaps from 29.2 to 43 inches. Select appropriate extension panels if your opening is wider than the main gate frame.

If baseboards are present, measure between the baseboards, not the wall edges, to ensure proper fit and pressure distribution.

2. Assemble Gate and Extensions

Insert the extension panels into the main gate frame if needed. Ensure they are securely connected.

3. Install Pressure Bolts and Wall Cups

Thread the four pressure adjustment bolts into the corners of the gate frame. Place the gate in the desired opening. For added security and stability, especially at the top of stairs, attach the wall cups to the wall using the adhesive pads and/or screws provided. The wall cups provide a stable surface for the pressure bolts.

4. Pressure-Mount Installation

Gradually tighten the pressure bolts by rotating them. Alternate tightening each bolt to ensure even pressure distribution. Continue tightening until the gate is firmly secured and the initial gap between the gate frame and the wall/doorway is minimal or closed, and the gate no longer moves when pushed.

5. Stair Installation (Baby Gate)

For stair installations, particularly with rounded banisters, use the provided Y-spindles instead of standard pressure bolts on the banister side. This ensures a secure fit without damaging the banister. Always use wall cups at the top of stairs.

6. Dog Gate Specifics (No Bottom Bar)

The Cumbor Dog Gate model features a 'no bottom bar' design for smooth and easy access, reducing trip hazards. Ensure this gate is installed in doorways or areas where a bottom bar is not required for structural integrity or safety.

Operating Instructions

Opening the Gate

The Cumbor safety gate features a double-lock safety release mechanism for enhanced security. To open:

1. Locate the release button/lever on the top of the gate handle.
2. Simultaneously press the button and lift the gate handle to disengage the lock.
3. Swing the gate open in the desired direction. The gate can typically swing both ways.

The gate is designed for easy one-handed operation, allowing you to open it while holding a child or other items.

Closing the Gate

Simply push the gate panel until it clicks securely into the closed and locked position. Always verify that the gate is properly latched by gently pulling on it.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

• Gate feels loose after installation: Re-tighten all four pressure bolts evenly until the gate is firmly secured and does not move. Ensure wall cups are properly installed.
• Gate does not latch: Check for any obstructions in the latching mechanism. Ensure the gate is installed squarely in the opening and that the pressure bolts are tightened evenly, allowing the latch to align properly.
• Gate is difficult to open/close: Check for debris in the hinges or latch. A small amount of lubricant may help. Ensure the gate is not overtightened, which can cause friction.
• Gap at the bottom/top of the gate: A small initial gap is normal for pressure-mounted gates. This gap should reduce significantly or close as the pressure bolts are tightened. If a large gap remains, the gate may be too narrow for the opening, or the bolts are not sufficiently tightened.
