1. Introduction

The Wiby ED-300PA Digital Peephole Doorbell replaces traditional peepholes with a smart system. It integrates a 4.3-inch indoor display, a 1080P camera with a 120° wide-angle lens, PIR motion detection, and two-way audio communication. This device allows users to view and communicate with visitors from the indoor display or remotely via the Tuya/Smart Life app. It supports immediate alerts, recorded clip review on a microSD card, and customization of sensitivity, sounds, and recording duration. The device is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control and automation.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your Wiby ED-300PA Digital Peephole Doorbell.

4.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure your door thickness is between 35 mm and 115 mm.
  • Ensure your existing peephole diameter is between 15 mm and 36 mm.
  • Confirm you have a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network available. The device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.

4.2 Installation Steps

  1. Remove Existing Peephole: Carefully unscrew and remove your traditional peephole from the door.
  2. Insert Outdoor Camera Unit: Thread the cable of the outdoor camera unit through the peephole hole from the outside of the door. Position the camera unit flush against the door.
  3. Attach Mounting Bracket: From the inside of the door, thread the camera cable through the mounting bracket. Secure the bracket to the door using the provided screws, ensuring the cable is not pinched.
  4. Connect Indoor Display Unit: Connect the outdoor camera unit's cable to the corresponding port on the back of the indoor display unit.
  5. Mount Indoor Display Unit: Align the indoor display unit with the mounting bracket and slide it down to secure it in place.
  6. Power On: Press the power button on the indoor display unit to turn it on.

4.3 App Setup (Tuya/Smart Life)

  1. Download App: Download and install the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store.
  2. Register/Log In: Create an account or log in to your existing account.
  3. Add Device: In the app, tap 'Add Device' or the '+' icon. Select 'Camera & Lock' and then 'Smart Camera (Wi-Fi)' or 'Doorbell Camera'.
  4. Reset Device: Follow the app instructions to reset the device. Ensure the indicator light is flashing rapidly or a prompt tone is heard.
  5. Connect to Wi-Fi: Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  6. Scan QR Code: The app will display a QR code. Hold your smartphone approximately 15-20 cm away from the outdoor camera lens until you hear a prompt tone indicating successful scanning.
  7. Complete Setup: Once connected, the device will be added to your app. You can then rename it and access its features.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Viewing Visitors

  • Indoor Display: Press the button on the indoor display unit to activate the screen and view the live feed from the outdoor camera.
  • Smartphone App: Open the Tuya/Smart Life app and select your device to view the live feed from anywhere.

5.2 Two-Way Audio

To communicate with a visitor:

  • From Indoor Display: When a visitor rings the doorbell, the indoor display will show the live feed. You can speak through the built-in microphone and listen via the speaker.
  • From Smartphone App: When you receive a notification on your smartphone, open the app to answer the video call and engage in two-way communication.

5.3 Motion Detection and Recording

The device features PIR motion detection. When motion is detected or the doorbell is pressed:

  • You will receive instant notifications on your smartphone.
  • The device will automatically capture photos or record video clips.
  • Recorded events are stored on the installed microSD card.

5.4 Night Vision

The integrated IR night vision allows for clear viewing and recording even in low-light conditions or complete darkness, with an effective range of 3-5 meters.

5.5 MicroSD Card Management

  • Insert a microSD card (up to 128GB) into the slot on the indoor display unit for local storage.
  • Access recorded clips via the indoor display or remotely through the Tuya/Smart Life app.

5.6 Smart Home Integration

The Wiby ED-300PA is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Link your device through the Tuya/Smart Life app settings to enable voice commands and integrate it into your smart home routines.

6. Maintenance

  • Charging: Recharge the 5000mAh battery using the provided charging cable when the battery level is low. A full charge provides weeks of standby time.
  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the indoor display screen and outdoor camera lens with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya/Smart Life app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • MicroSD Card: Regularly back up important recordings and format the microSD card to maintain performance.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the charging cable and allow it to charge for a few hours before attempting to power on again.
  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Ensure the Wi-Fi signal strength is adequate at the installation location.
    • Double-check the Wi-Fi password entered in the app.
    • Try resetting the device and repeating the app setup process.
  • Poor Video Quality:
    • Clean the outdoor camera lens.
    • Ensure sufficient lighting. Night vision will activate automatically in low light.
    • Check your Wi-Fi connection speed. A weak connection can affect streaming quality.
  • Motion Detection Not Working:
    • Check the motion detection settings in the Tuya/Smart Life app. Adjust sensitivity if necessary.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the PIR sensor on the outdoor unit.
  • No Two-Way Audio:
    • Ensure the microphone and speaker on both units are not obstructed.
    • Check volume settings on the indoor display and in the app.
    • Verify network connectivity for remote audio.
