  1. Prepare Filter Media: Insert the white sponges into the main filter box. Place the black bio sponge and bio balls into the top filter box.
  2. Assemble Filter Boxes: Insert the top filter box into the main filter box.
  3. Attach Water Pump: Securely attach the water pump to the designated slot on the filter.
  4. Assemble Intake Tube: Connect the inlet tube to the water pump. Slide the anti-suction foam onto the end of the inlet tube. The inlet tube is extendable to fit various tank depths.
  5. Add Bio Balls: Place the bio balls into the top compartment of the filter and secure the filter box lid.
  6. Hang on Tank: Hang the assembled filter onto the back wall of your aquarium. Ensure it is stable and level. The filter's external design means no manual filling is required; it self-primes once powered on.
  7. Adjust for Stability: Rotate the pre-installed plastic pad at the bottom of the filter to press against the tank wall. This reduces vibration and ensures quiet operation.

Once installed, operating your Pawfly filter is straightforward:

  1. Power On: Plug the filter into a suitable electrical outlet. The filter will self-prime and begin operating automatically.
  2. Adjust Water Flow: Use the rotatable knob located on top of the filter to adjust the water flow rate. Turn towards 'MIN' for reduced flow, or 'MAX' for increased flow, to suit the needs of your aquatic pets.
  3. Quiet Operation: The filter is designed to run silently, typically under 35 dB. Ensure the plastic pad at the bottom is adjusted against the tank wall to minimize any potential vibration.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and a healthy aquarium environment.

Cleaning Frequency:

  • White Sponges: Replace every 2-4 weeks, depending on tank bioload.
  • Bio Sponge (Black): Rinse every 2 weeks with aquarium water (not tap water) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace every 3 months.
  • Bio Balls: Rinse gently with aquarium water once a month. Do not clean thoroughly with tap water, as this can remove beneficial bacteria.
  • Water Pump: Disassemble and clean the impeller and pump housing monthly to prevent blockages and maintain flow.

Cleaning Procedure:

  1. Disconnect the filter from the power supply.
  2. Carefully remove the filter from the aquarium.
  3. Disassemble the filter components: remove the lid, filter media, and water pump.
  4. Clean all parts thoroughly. For sponges and bio balls, use old aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria. For the pump and housing, clean with a brush and rinse with water.
  5. Reassemble the filter, replacing any worn-out filter media.
  6. Reinstall the filter on the aquarium and reconnect power.
