Control buttons allow you to:
- START/STOP: Initiates or halts the charging process.
- Current Selection: Manually adjust the charging current (12V: 10A/20A/40A; 24V: 5A/10A/20A).
- Battery Selection: Choose the appropriate battery type (LiFePO4, GEL, AGM, STD).
- Repair Mode: Activates the battery repair function for 12V lead-acid batteries.
4. Setup and Connection
Follow these steps to safely connect the charger to your battery:
- Prepare the Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. If necessary, clean them with a wire brush and baking soda solution.
- Connect Battery Clamps:
- Connect the RED positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the BLACK negative (-) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Note: For a battery installed in a vehicle, connect the negative clamp to the vehicle chassis away from the battery and fuel line if the negative terminal is grounded. If the positive terminal is grounded, connect the positive clamp to the chassis away from the battery and fuel line.

Figure 4.1: Proper connection of battery clamps to a car battery.
- Connect to Power: Plug the AC power cord into a standard AC 100V-120V wall socket.
- Power On: Flip the ON/OFF switch on the charger to the "ON" position. The display will illuminate.
5. Operating Instructions
Once connected and powered on, the charger will automatically detect the battery voltage (12V or 24V).
5.1 Selecting Battery Type and Current
- Battery Type Selection: Press the "Battery Selection" button to cycle through the available battery types (LiFePO4, GEL, AGM, STD) and select the one that matches your battery.
- Current Selection: Use the "Current Selection" button to choose the desired charging current. Available options are (12V: 10A/20A/40A) and (24V: 5A/10A/20A). Select a current appropriate for your battery's capacity.
5.2 Starting and Monitoring Charging
- Start Charging: Press the "START/STOP" button to initiate the charging process. The display will show real-time charging status.
- 6-Stage Charging Process: The charger utilizes an advanced 6-stage charging process for optimal battery health and efficiency:
- Stage 1: Small Current Charging (0.5A-2.5A): Initial gentle charge.
- Stage 2: Pre-charging (2.5A for 15 minutes): Prepares the battery for bulk charging.
- Stage 3: Constant Current Charging: Charges the battery at the selected current until voltage rises.
- Stage 4: Constant Voltage Charging: Maintains a constant voltage while current decreases.
- Stage 5: Float: Maintains the battery at full charge with a low current.
- Stage 6: Disconnect Power: Automatically stops charging when the battery is fully charged.

Figure 5.1: The 6-Stage Charging Process for efficient and safe battery charging.
- Automatic Trickle/Float Mode: After fully charging, the charger automatically enters trickle/float charging mode. It monitors battery status and restarts charging at the proper voltage to maintain the battery.
5.3 Repair Function
The repair function is designed to activate and prolong the life of 12V lead-acid batteries that have been idle for a long time, are under-voltage, or cannot be charged normally.
- Activate Repair Mode: With the charger connected to a 12V lead-acid battery, press the "Repair Mode" button.
- Monitoring: The charger will attempt to desulfate and recondition the battery. Monitor the display for progress.
- Note: This function is only for 12V lead-acid batteries. It does not work with LiFePO4 batteries.
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity of your charger and batteries.
- Charger Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from power and battery before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the AC power cord and battery cables for any damage, cuts, or fraying. Replace if damaged.
- Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ensure cables are neatly coiled.
- Battery Maintenance: The charger's trickle/float mode helps maintain batteries. For long-term storage, ensure batteries are fully charged and periodically checked.
7. Troubleshooting
The Yinleader Smart Battery Charger incorporates multiple protection features to ensure safe operation. If you encounter an issue, refer to the following:
- No Display/No Power:
- Check if the AC power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet.
- Ensure the ON/OFF switch on the charger is in the "ON" position.
- Verify the wall outlet has power.
- Charger Not Starting:
- Ensure battery clamps are correctly connected (positive to positive, negative to negative). The charger has reverse connection protection, which will prevent charging if connected incorrectly and may emit a warning sound.
- Confirm the battery type selected on the charger matches the connected battery.
- If the battery is severely discharged (below 0V), the charger's soft start function may take time to initiate.
- Overheating Protection: The charger has over-heating protection. If the internal temperature exceeds 45°C (114°F), the cooling fan will automatically activate. If the temperature continues to rise excessively, the charger may temporarily stop charging to prevent damage. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger.
- Over-current/Over-voltage Protection: The charger monitors current flow and voltage. If abnormal levels are detected, it will cut off power to prevent battery damage or charger damage. Check battery condition and connections.
- Short-circuit Protection: In case of a short circuit, the charger instantly cuts power. Disconnect and re-evaluate connections.
- Overcharge Protection: The 6-stage charging process includes overcharge protection, automatically cutting off charging when the battery is full and entering float mode. If the charger continuously charges without reaching full, the battery may be faulty.
