Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not remove the ground prong.
  • Do not use an adapter.
  • Do not use an extension cord.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug.
  • Ensure the dehumidifier is placed on a level surface.
  • Keep at least 8 inches (20 cm) clearance around the unit for proper airflow.

Setup and Installation

1. Unpacking and Initial Placement

Carefully remove the dehumidifier from its packaging. Locate the four casters inside the water collection bucket. Insert each caster into the designated holes on the bottom of the dehumidifier until securely in place.

If the unit has been laid on its side during shipping, it is crucial to keep it upright for a minimum of 2 hours before plugging it in and operating. This allows the refrigerant to settle properly.

  • Power Button: Turns the unit On or Off.
  • Smart Dry: Activates the Smart Dry mode, which automatically adjusts fan speed based on room humidity.
  • Speed Button: Cycles through available fan speeds (Low, Medium, High).
  • Humidity +/- Buttons: Adjusts the desired humidity level between 30% and 70% relative humidity.
  • Filter Button: Indicates when the filter needs cleaning and is used to reset the filter reminder.
  • Delay Button: Sets a delayed start or stop time for the unit.

Setting Desired Humidity

Press the Humidity +/- buttons to set your desired humidity level. The unit will operate until the room humidity reaches the set level, then cycle on and off to maintain it. Recommended humidity levels are typically between 40% and 50%.

Fan Speed Selection

Press the Speed button to choose between Low, Medium, or High fan speeds. Higher fan speeds will dehumidify faster but may produce more noise.

Smart Dry Mode

Activate Smart Dry mode for automatic operation. In this mode, the dehumidifier intelligently adjusts its fan speed based on the current room humidity to optimize moisture removal and energy efficiency.

Drainage Options

Your GE Portable Dehumidifier offers multiple ways to remove collected water:

  1. Manual Emptying (Bucket): When the water collection bucket is full, the unit will automatically shut off, and an alarm will sound for 10 seconds. Carefully remove the bucket using the integrated handle and empty the water. Reinsert the bucket securely to resume operation.
  2. Continuous Drainage (Gravity): For continuous operation without emptying the bucket, connect a standard garden hose (not included) to the continuous drain port on the back of the unit. Ensure the hose is sloped downwards to a floor drain or suitable receptacle.
  3. Pump Drainage (Optional, if applicable): If your model includes a built-in pump, you can use the provided hose to drain water vertically or horizontally up to 16 feet away. Refer to the specific instructions for pump setup in your model's supplementary guide if applicable.

  2. Gently pull out the filter from the back of the unit.
  3. Wash the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting. Do not use a dishwasher or hot water.
  5. Once the filter is reinserted, plug in the unit and press and hold the "Filter" button for 3 seconds to reset the filter reminder.
