5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the lifespan of your EROMMY Carport.
- Cleaning: Clean the fabric cover periodically with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the material.
- Inspection: Regularly check all frame connections, ropes, and stakes for tightness and wear. Tighten any loose bolts or replace worn components as needed.
- Snow Removal: In snowy conditions, promptly remove snow from the roof to prevent excessive weight accumulation, which can lead to structural collapse.
- Wind Protection: During high winds, ensure all doors and windows are securely closed and the carport is properly anchored. Consider temporarily removing the fabric cover in extreme weather.
- Storage: If disassembling for storage, clean and dry all components thoroughly before packing them away in a cool, dry place to prevent mold and rust.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your carport.
- Issue: Carport feels unstable.
Solution: Ensure all frame connections are tight. Verify that ground stakes are fully driven into the ground and windproof ropes are taut. Fill and attach all sandbags. Consider additional anchoring methods in very windy areas. - Issue: Water pooling on the roof.
Solution: Check if the roof cover is properly stretched and secured to prevent sagging. Ensure the frame is correctly assembled and not warped. Remove any debris that might be causing water to collect. - Issue: Zippers are difficult to operate.
Solution: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the zipper teeth. Ensure the fabric is not pulled too tightly, causing tension on the zippers. - Issue: Fabric cover tearing or showing wear.
Solution: Inspect for sharp edges on the frame that might be rubbing against the fabric. Ensure the cover is not excessively stretched. Small tears can often be repaired with a heavy-duty tarp repair kit. For significant damage, consider replacing the cover.
