4. Setup Instructions
- Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the unit and accessories for any signs of damage. Report any damage to your supplier immediately.
- Flush Antifreeze: As noted in the safety section, the unit is shipped with RV & Marine Antifreeze for protection. Before first use, fill the solution tank with 1-2 gallons of clean water. Connect the hoses and wand, then run the pump (without engaging the vacuum) until all the water has been sprayed through the wand. This flushes the antifreeze from the system.
- Connect Hoses:
- Connect the large diameter vacuum hose to the vacuum port on the front of the extractor unit. Ensure a secure fit.
- Connect the smaller diameter solution hose to the brass quick-connect fitting on the front of the extractor unit. Pull back the collar on the quick-connect fitting, insert the hose end, and release the collar to lock it in place.
- Connect Wand: Attach the other ends of the vacuum and solution hoses to the corresponding ports on the 12-inch stainless steel S-bend wand. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks and loss of suction.
- Prepare Solution Tank: Open the lid of the solution tank. Fill the tank with clean water and the appropriate carpet cleaning solution, following the cleaning solution manufacturer's dilution instructions. Do not overfill.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cords into separate, properly grounded electrical outlets. Ensure the outlets are rated for the unit's power requirements.
5. Operating Instructions
- Pre-Test Cleaning Solution: Before cleaning, always test your chosen cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the carpet to ensure colorfastness and prevent damage.
- Turn On Unit:
- Flip the "VAC 1" switch to the "ON" position to engage the vacuum motors.
- If heated cleaning is desired, flip the "Heater" switch to the "ON" position. Allow a few minutes for the heater to warm the solution to its optimal temperature (up to 150°F).
- Flip the "Pump" switch to the "ON" position to activate the solution pump.
- Cleaning Technique:
- Hold the wand firmly and press the trigger to spray cleaning solution onto the carpet.
- Make slow, overlapping passes with the wand, moving backward to extract the dirty solution. Avoid excessive saturation.
- For heavily soiled areas, you may pre-spray the area and allow the solution to dwell for a few minutes before extraction.
- Perform dry passes (without spraying solution) to remove as much moisture as possible, aiding in faster drying times.
- Monitor Recovery Tank: The recovery tank will fill with dirty water. Monitor its level and empty it before it becomes full to prevent overflow and loss of suction.
- Refill Solution Tank: When the solution tank is empty, turn off the pump, refill with fresh solution, and resume cleaning.
- Adjustable Water Pressure: The unit may feature adjustable water pressure settings. Refer to the control panel or specific product markings for details on adjusting pressure for different carpet types.
- Finishing: Once cleaning is complete, perform several dry passes to extract as much moisture as possible. Turn off the pump, heater, and vacuum switches, then unplug the unit.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your Glownary Carpet Extractor.
- After Each Use:
- Empty and Clean Tanks: Empty both the solution and recovery tanks. Rinse them thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue or debris.
- Flush System: Fill the solution tank with 1-2 gallons of clean water. Run the pump and spray the water through the wand until the tank is empty. This flushes out any remaining cleaning solution from the pump and hoses.
- Clean Wand and Hoses: Rinse the wand and hoses with clean water. Check for any blockages in the wand jets and clear them if necessary.
- Wipe Down Unit: Wipe the exterior of the extractor unit with a damp cloth.
- Regular Checks:
- Inspect hoses and connections for wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace damaged components immediately.
- Check power cords for any damage.
- Ensure the air vents are clear of debris to maintain proper motor cooling.
- Storage: Store the unit in a clean, dry place. If storing in freezing temperatures, ensure the system is properly winterized (flushed with antifreeze) to prevent damage to the pump and lines.
