2. Safety Information
Important Safety Warnings:
- This alarm should be installed by a competent person.
- Alarms should not be used as a substitute for proper installation, use, and maintenance of fuel-burning appliances, including appropriate ventilation and exhaust systems.
- To prevent injury, this device should be securely attached to the ceiling or wall in accordance with the installation instructions.
- Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire, etc.
- Do not paint the alarm. Painting may interfere with the sensors' ability to detect smoke and carbon monoxide.
Locations to Avoid:
- Near large metal surfaces and/or bundles of wire, which may interfere with RF signals.
- Near fluorescent lights, amateur radios, electrical equipment, or other devices that may transmit an RF signal, as electronic "noise" may cause nuisance alarms.
- In areas with excessive dust, dirt, or grease.
- In bathrooms or areas with high humidity.
- In the middle of a ceiling, if it is a distance of 20 to 50 feet away from the corners of the room.

6. Installation
Recommended Placement:
- Install an alarm in the bedroom and walkway, and make sure you can hear the alarm from all sleeping areas.
- In a home with several bedrooms, install an alarm in every bedroom.
- If you install only one smoke alarm in your home, install the alarm near all bedrooms where possible, and not in a basement or furnace room.
- Install an alarm above the stairway and on every floor of the house.
- Smoke, heat, and anything burning will spread horizontally after rising to the ceiling, so install the alarm in the middle of the ceiling where possible. Ensure that the alarm is installed at the minimum distance away from corners.
Mounting Methods:
The HATHEPHS CS02 detector offers two convenient installation options:
- Adhesive Tape: For quick and easy installation, peel and stick the provided adhesive tape to a clean, dry surface on your wall or ceiling.
- Screws/Anchors: For a more secure installation, use the included screws and anchors to attach the mounting bracket to the desired location. Then, twist the alarm onto the mounting bracket to lock it in place.

7. Operation
Testing the Alarm:
It is recommended to test the alarm weekly to ensure proper functionality.
- Press and hold the large Test/Silence button on the top cover.
- The alarm will emit a series of beeps, and the LED indicator will flash.
- Release the button. The alarm should return to standby mode.
Silence Mode:
In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm:
- Press the large Test/Silence button once.
- The alarm will enter silence mode for a period (refer to full manual for exact duration), during which the LED will continue to flash.
- The alarm will automatically reset to normal operation after the silence period.
Alarm Indications:
- Smoke Alarm: Loud, continuous beeping with a red LED flash.
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm: Intermittent beeping with a red LED flash.
- Low Battery Warning: A short chirp or flash at regular intervals (e.g., every 60 seconds) indicates the battery is low and needs attention.
- Malfunction Warning: A specific pattern of beeps or flashes (refer to full manual) indicates a device malfunction.
8. Maintenance
Cleaning:
Clean the alarm cover once a month with a soft brush or cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use cleaning solvents or paint the device.
Battery:
The HATHEPHS CS02 features a sealed 10-year lithium battery. The battery is not user-replaceable. If a low battery warning occurs, the device should be replaced immediately.
