1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your Bosch C80-Li 15A 6V/12V Next-Gen Battery Charger. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and longevity.

Figure 1: Bosch C80-Li Battery Charger and Accessories
The Bosch C80-Li is a versatile battery charger designed for various 6-volt and 12-volt batteries, including Lithium-ion (LiFePO4), Lead-acid, AGM, EFB, GEL, and SLI types. It features advanced charging modes and safety mechanisms to optimize battery performance and extend lifespan.
2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions when operating the Bosch C80-Li battery charger:
- Ensure the charger is used in a well-ventilated area.
- Avoid contact with battery acid. Wear protective eyewear and gloves.
- Do not charge frozen batteries. Allow them to warm to room temperature first.
- Keep the charger away from flammable materials.
- The charger is designed for the United States market only (120V electrical network).
- The device features overheating and short-circuit protection, and protection against reversed polarity.
- It is IP65 splash water and dust proof, but not fully waterproof.
3. Setup and Connection
Follow these steps to connect the Bosch C80-Li charger to your vehicle battery:
Prepare the Charger: Unpack the charger and its accessories. The charger comes with a hook for convenient placement during charging.

The included hook allows you to hang the charger securely, for example, from the vehicle's hood, keeping it off the ground and away from potential hazards.
Connect to Battery Terminals:
- Connect the red positive (+) clamp or ring terminal to the positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the black negative (-) clamp or ring terminal to the negative (-) battery terminal. Alternatively, the black clamp can be connected to a free metallic point on the vehicle chassis, away from the battery and fuel lines.

This video demonstrates the simple steps for connecting and operating the Bosch C-Line battery charger, including attaching it to the vehicle and selecting charging modes.
4. Operating Modes
The Bosch C80-Li features an intuitive one-button operation to select various charging modes. The integrated microprocessor ensures efficient charging tailored to the battery type and condition.

Figure 4: Detailed Explanation of Charging Modes
The charger's display clearly indicates the selected mode and charging status. Press the "MODE" button to cycle through the available options.
Available Modes:
- 6V Motorcycle and Scooter Mode: Suitable for 6V lead-acid batteries (2 Ah - 120 Ah) at 7.2V / 5A charging.
- 12V Motorcycle and Car Mode: Suitable for 12V lead-acid batteries (2 Ah - 400 Ah) at 14.4V / 15A charging.
- Lithium-ion 12V Mode: Suitable for 12V LiFePO4 batteries (2 Ah - 400 Ah) at 14.2V / 15A charging.
- Winter and AGM Mode: Provides higher charging voltage, suitable for 12V lead-acid batteries (2 Ah - 400 Ah) at 14.7V / 15A charging. Ideal for cold temperatures and AGM batteries.
- Quick Mode (20A Fast Charging): Delivers 20 amps for five minutes to provide a rapid boost. This mode has a 30-minute cooldown period before it can be used again.
- Regeneration Function: A slow pulse charging mode for gradual recovery of deeply discharged batteries.
- Push Mode: Attempts to start charging a very deep discharged battery (between 0.5V and 3.75V). If a charging error occurs, the device switches to standby mode.
- Power Supply Mode: Supplies the vehicle with energy to preserve all vehicle settings while the battery is being serviced or replaced, preventing data loss.
- Maintenance Charging: Extends the service life of batteries in seasonal use by monitoring voltage and maintaining a low charging current to keep the battery at 100% charge. The charger can be left connected indefinitely in this mode.
The charger saves the last selected charging mode, allowing it to resume charging in the same mode if briefly disconnected from the power supply.
5. Maintenance
The Bosch C80-Li is designed for minimal maintenance. Regularly inspect the cables and connectors for any signs of damage or wear. Keep the charger clean and free from dust. The IP65 rating provides protection against splash water and dust, but avoid submerging the unit.
For long-term battery health, utilize the Maintenance Charging mode for vehicles stored for extended periods, such as motorcycles, cars, or boats used seasonally.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Bosch C80-Li charger, consider the following:
- Charger not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a live 120V AC outlet.
- No charging activity: Verify that the battery clamps/ring terminals are correctly and securely connected to the battery terminals (red to positive, black to negative or chassis). The charger has reverse polarity protection, which will prevent charging if connections are incorrect.
- Error indicator: Refer to the charger's display for specific error codes or indicators. If a deeply discharged battery is detected, try the "Push Mode."
- Slow charging: Ensure the correct mode is selected for your battery type and voltage. The 20A Fast Mode is temporary and has a cooldown.
If problems persist, disconnect the charger from both the power supply and the battery, then re-establish connections carefully. Consult a qualified technician if the issue cannot be resolved.
