  • Placement: Always place the device on a flat, metallic surface of your vehicle's roof for optimal magnetic adhesion and visibility. Ensure the area is clean and free of debris.
  • Visibility: While the device offers high visibility, always exercise caution and follow local traffic laws when dealing with roadside emergencies.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, such as your vehicle's glove compartment, when not in use.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Activation

The 9V battery is typically pre-installed in your EXTRASTAR V16 device. Before first use, it is crucial to remove the protective plastic film from the battery terminals to allow the device to power on.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the device.
  2. Carefully open the compartment.
  3. Remove the protective plastic film from the 9V battery terminals.
  4. Ensure the battery is securely seated in its compartment.
  5. Close the battery compartment.
  6. Press the orange button on the top of the device to turn it on and verify functionality. The light should begin flashing.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Deployment in an Emergency

In the event of a vehicle breakdown or accident, deploy the EXTRASTAR V16 device quickly and safely without exiting your vehicle.

  1. Retrieve the V16 emergency light from your glove compartment or storage location.
  2. Press the orange button on the top of the device to activate the flashing light.
  3. Place the device on the highest possible metallic surface of your vehicle, typically the roof. The powerful magnetic base will secure it instantly.
  4. The device will automatically begin transmitting your location to the DGT 3.0 platform.

The EXTRASTAR V16 device is officially approved by the DGT (PC25060170) and meets all requirements for mandatory use from January 2026. It features integrated GPS geolocalization with an eSIM, utilizing NB-IoT technology in collaboration with Telefónica Tech. This ensures national coverage and automatic transmission of your location to the DGT 3.0 platform in case of an emergency. A data plan is included for 12+ years (until 2038) for emergency transmissions without additional cost.

The device provides 360° visibility with a range of 1 kilometer, ensuring it is seen day and night, even in adverse weather conditions. Its robust design is certified with an IP54 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes. The powerful magnetic base ensures secure attachment to your vehicle's roof, even against strong winds (resistance ≥180Pa).

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The device uses a standard 9V battery. Replace the battery when the light's intensity diminishes or it fails to activate. Ensure to use a high-quality alkaline 9V battery for best performance and longevity.
