3. MicroSD Card Installation

For expanded memory and firmware updates, install a 32GB/FAT32 formatted MicroSD card (not included). Note that inserting a MicroSD card will disable the onboard 4GB flash memory.

4. Antenna Attachment

Attach the foldable antenna securely to the designated port. Ensure it is fully extended during operation for optimal signal strength.

5. Initial Power On and Firmware

Power on the transmitter. The TX15 Max runs on EdgeTX firmware (requires version 3.0.0 or later) for the transmitter and ExpressLRS for the RF module. It is recommended to check for the latest firmware updates via USB-C, SD card, or the EdgeTX Buddy/Companion PC software.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Controls Overview

The TX15 Max features two main gimbals for primary control inputs (throttle, aileron, elevator, rudder). Various switches (SA, SB, SC, SD, T1-T4) and potentiometers (S1, S2) are available for auxiliary functions. The 3.5-inch IPS touchscreen provides access to menus and settings.

2. Navigation and Settings

Utilize the touchscreen and navigation buttons (SYS, RTN, PAGE>, PAGE<, TELE) to access and adjust settings within the EdgeTX firmware. Refer to the EdgeTX documentation for detailed menu navigation and model setup procedures.

3. Binding to Receiver

The internal RF module supports ExpressLRS protocols. Follow the specific binding procedure for your ExpressLRS receiver to establish a connection. The transmitter supports a maximum of 16 channels, depending on the receiver.

4. Using the Built-in Gyro

The integrated ICM-42607-C gyro allows for advanced control options. This feature can be configured within EdgeTX to trigger switches, control pan/tilt cameras, or activate telemetry callouts by tilting the radio.

5. Customizing Gimbals and Switches

The AG02 gimbals offer adjustable travel on both vertical and horizontal axes. Interchangeable shoulder switches allow for further customization of your control layout. The RGB gimbal light-ring can be customized via LUA-controlled lighting settings.

Maintenance

1. Battery Care

To ensure optimal battery life, always use the Smart Balance Battery Circuit for charging and discharging. Avoid overcharging or fully depleting the battery. Store the transmitter with the battery at a partial charge if not used for extended periods.

2. Cleaning and Storage

Clean the transmitter regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents. Store the transmitter in a cool, dry place, preferably in its carrying case, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The powerful cooling system helps manage internal temperatures during operation.

3. Firmware Updates

Regularly check for firmware updates for both the EdgeTX operating system and the ExpressLRS module. Updates can provide new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Use the official EdgeTX tools and follow their instructions for safe updating.

Troubleshooting

  • Transmitter Not Powering On:

Ensure the battery is correctly installed and fully charged. Check battery connections for any looseness.

  • No Signal to Receiver:

Verify that the transmitter and receiver are properly bound. Check the RF module settings in EdgeTX. Ensure the antenna is securely attached and extended.

  • Gimbal or Switch Malfunction:

Inspect the physical condition of the gimbals and switches. Calibrate gimbals within the EdgeTX settings if inputs are erratic. Ensure interchangeable switches are correctly seated.

  • Display Issues:

If the touchscreen is unresponsive or displays incorrectly, try restarting the transmitter. Ensure firmware is up to date.

  • Firmware Update Failure:

Ensure a stable USB connection and a properly formatted MicroSD card. Follow official EdgeTX update procedures precisely. Do not disconnect power during an update.
