5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

The DTAPE DT50 requires 2 AAA batteries (included). To install the batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Slide the cover open.
3. Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2. Power On/Off

• To power on: Press the Power button (central button with power symbol).
• To power off: Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 150 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery.

6.1. Basic Measurement

1. Power on the device.
2. Point the laser at the target object.
3. Press the Measure button (top arrow button) once to activate the laser.
4. Press the Measure button again to take the measurement. The result will be displayed on the screen.

6.2. Changing Measurement Units

To cycle through measurement units (meters, feet, inches, feet+inches):

• Press the UNIT button (bottom left) repeatedly until your desired unit is displayed.

6.3. Changing Measurement Reference Point

The device can measure from its front or rear edge. This is indicated by an icon on the display.

• Press the Reference Point button (top right, next to the speaker icon) to switch between front and rear reference points.

6.4. Mute Mode

To mute the device's sounds:

• Press the Mute button (speaker icon) to toggle sound on/off.

8. Data Management

8.1. Viewing Stored Data

The DTAPE DT50 can store up to 20 groups of measurement data.

• Press the Memory button (top left, with stacked lines icon) to view historical records.
• Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the stored measurements.

To clear the current measurement or exit a mode:

• Press the Clear/Off button (C button) to clear the last measurement or return to the previous screen.
