1. Introduction

The Kecung DTL150 is a sophisticated DC digital electronic load designed for precise battery capacity testing and power supply discharge. Featuring a 2.4-inch TFT color screen, it supports a maximum power of 150W and a maximum current of 20A. This device incorporates advanced protection mechanisms to safeguard the power supply during discharge, preventing damage from over-limit or over-discharge conditions. Its four-wire connection method ensures accurate voltage measurements, unaffected by wire voltage drop, and is backward compatible with two-wire connections.

The DTL150 offers four distinct working modes: Constant Current (CC), Constant Voltage (CV), Constant Power (CP), and Constant Resistance (CR), providing versatility for various testing scenarios. It includes configurable over-limit protection for voltage, current, and power, as well as settings for stop discharge voltage and discharge time. An external sensor allows for temperature monitoring of the power supply.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Power Supply Connection

The DTL150 requires a 12V 1A power supply for operation. Connect the provided AC adapter to the working power interface on the device and then to a suitable wall outlet. The package includes both US and EU plug adapters for compatibility.

3.2 Four-Wire Connection Method

For accurate voltage measurement, the DTL150 utilizes a four-wire connection method. This method separates the current-carrying wires from the voltage-sensing wires, eliminating voltage drop errors across the connection cables.

  1. Connect the positive current wire (A+) from the power supply/battery to the A+ terminal on the DTL150.
  2. Connect the negative current wire (A-) from the power supply/battery to the A- terminal on the DTL150.
  3. Connect the positive voltage sense wire (V+) from the power supply/battery to the V+ terminal on the DTL150.
  4. Connect the negative voltage sense wire (V-) from the power supply/battery to the V- terminal on the DTL150.

Note: The four-wire system is backward compatible with two-wire connections. For two-wire connections, ensure the V+ and A+ terminals are shorted, and V- and A- terminals are shorted. However, for optimal accuracy, the four-wire method is recommended.

3.3 External NTC Sensor Connection (Optional)

To monitor the temperature of the power supply, connect a compatible NTC 3950 10K 1% temperature sensor to the NTC sensor interface on the DTL150. This allows for temperature display within the range of 0-100°C.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On and Interface

Once the power supply is connected, the DTL150 will power on, and the 2.4-inch TFT color screen will display the main interface. The interface supports both Chinese and English languages, which can be switched in the settings.

4.2 Working Modes

The DTL150 offers four primary working modes:

  • CC (Constant Current) Mode: Maintains a constant discharge current.
  • CV (Constant Voltage) Mode: Maintains a constant voltage across the load.
  • CP (Constant Power) Mode: Maintains a constant discharge power.
  • CR (Constant Resistance) Mode: Maintains a constant resistance for the load.

Use the control buttons to navigate through the menu and select the desired working mode. The 'SET' button typically confirms selections, while '+' and '-' buttons adjust values.

4.3 Setting Protection Parameters

To protect the power supply and the device, configure the following protection settings:

  • Overvoltage Protection: Set the maximum allowable input voltage (up to 150V).
  • Overcurrent Protection: Set the maximum allowable discharge current (up to 20A).
  • Over-power Protection: Set the maximum allowable discharge power (up to 150W).
  • Voltage-limiting Discharge (Low-voltage Protection): Set the minimum voltage at which discharge should stop. This prevents over-discharge of batteries.
  • Time-limited Discharge: Set a maximum discharge duration (up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds).

Access these settings through the device menu and adjust values using the '+' and '-' buttons. Confirm with 'SET'.

4.4 Starting and Stopping Discharge

After configuring the desired mode and protection parameters, press the 'ON/OFF' button to start or stop the discharge process. The display will show real-time values for voltage, current, power, and accumulated capacity/energy.

4.5 Calibration and Reset Functions

The DTL150 supports voltage and current no-load zeroing, voltage open calibration, and current open calibration for maintaining accuracy. An accumulated data reset and factory reset function are also available in the settings menu.

5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Avoid exposure to dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device during operation.

5.2 Cooling System

The DTL150 features an integrated alloy silent radiator with an intelligent temperature control system. The radiator fan will automatically activate when the internal temperature reaches approximately 40°C to maintain optimal operating temperatures. Ensure the fan vents are not obstructed.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DTL150, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the 12V 1A power adapter is correctly connected to the device and a functional power outlet.
    • Verify the power adapter is supplying the correct voltage.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Check all four-wire connections to ensure they are secure and correctly wired (A+, A-, V+, V-).
    • Perform voltage and current no-load zeroing and calibration as described in the operating instructions.
    • Ensure the external NTC sensor (if used) is properly connected and not faulty.
  • Discharge Stops Unexpectedly:
    • Check if any protection limits (overvoltage, overcurrent, over-power, low-voltage) have been triggered. Adjust settings if necessary.
    • Verify the time-limited discharge setting is not causing premature stops.
  • Fan Not Running:
    • The fan is temperature-controlled and will only run when the internal temperature exceeds approximately 40°C. This is normal operation.
    • Ensure the fan vents are clear of obstructions.
