Aukuoy PC Power Button Extension Cable with PCIe Bracket (Model BT288a) User Manual

Model: BT288a

1. Product Overview

The Aukuoy PC Power Button Extension Cable with Full Height PCIe Bracket provides a solution for extending your PC's front panel controls to a more accessible rear location. This 9-pin adapter allows you to relocate the Power Switch (Power SW), Reset Switch (Reset SW), Power LED, and Hard Drive Activity LED (HDD LED) functions. It is particularly useful for test benches, custom PC builds, server racks, cases with obstructed front panels, or when replacing faulty integrated case buttons.

The extension cable measures 30cm (11.8 inches) in length, offering sufficient reach from the motherboard to the rear panel. The included full-height PCIe bracket is 12cm, designed to fit standard ATX/Mid-Tower PC cases.

2. Package Contents

  • 1 × 9-pin Front Panel Extension Cable (30cm)
  • 1 × Full-Height PCIe Bracket (12cm) with integrated buttons/LEDs

3. Compatibility

This product is compatible with standard full-height PCIe slot cases. The PCIe bracket measures 12cm. Before installation, ensure your chassis baffle height is ≥120mm for proper fitment. Cases with a half-height baffle (<80mm) are not compatible.

The standard 9-pin PC power button cable connector is designed to work with most Intel and AMD motherboards.

4. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install the Aukuoy PC Power Button Extension Cable:

  1. Step 1: Mount the PCIe Bracket.

Secure the full-height PCIe bracket into an available PCIe slot on the rear of your PC case. Use a screwdriver to fasten the bracket securely with the provided screw.

  2. Step 2: Connect the Extension Cable to the Motherboard.

Locate the front panel header pins on your motherboard. These are typically labeled for Power SW, Reset SW, Power LED, and HDD LED. Carefully connect the corresponding labeled connectors from the extension cable to the correct pins on the motherboard. Ensure correct polarity for the LED connectors (Power LED+ to Power LED+, Power LED- to Power LED-, etc.).

Important Note: Incorrect installation of the PCIe bracket may prevent it from being fixed securely. Always ensure the chassis baffle height is compatible (≥120mm).

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the buttons and LEDs on the PCIe bracket will function identically to your PC's original front panel controls. Press the Power button to turn your PC on or off, and the Reset button to restart. The Power LED will indicate power status, and the HDD LED will show hard drive activity.

6. Troubleshooting

  • PC does not power on/off:

Ensure the Power SW connector from the extension cable is correctly plugged into the Power SW pins on your motherboard. Check for proper seating of the 9-pin connector into the PCIe bracket.

  • LEDs are not lighting up:

Verify that the Power LED and HDD LED connectors are correctly attached to the motherboard's front panel header with the correct polarity (+ and - pins). If reversed, LEDs will not light up.

  • Bracket is not secure:

Confirm that your PC case has a full-height PCIe slot and that the chassis baffle height is ≥120mm. Ensure the screw securing the bracket is tightened.

  • Reset button not working:

Check the connection of the Reset SW cable to the motherboard's Reset SW pins.
