4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up your VEVOR Pro Grind Sharpening System. A bench grinder (6-inch or 8-inch) is required and not included.

Figure 3: Visual guide for the 4-step installation process.
- Step 1: Prepare the Bench Grinder. Ensure your 6-inch or 8-inch bench grinder is securely mounted to a stable workbench.
- Step 2: Install and Secure the Base. Attach the Quick Cam Locking Bases to your workbench in appropriate positions relative to the grinder wheels. These bases will hold the support bars.
- Step 3: Attach the Glide Setup Blocks. Insert the glide blocks into the Quick Cam Locking Bases. These blocks provide smooth movement for the sharpening jigs.
- Step 4: Mount the Platform Jig. Secure the Platform Jig or other relevant jigs onto the support bars, ensuring they are stable and aligned with the grinding wheel.
Note: The exact positioning of the bases and jigs will depend on your specific bench grinder and the tool you intend to sharpen. Adjustments will be necessary during operation.
5. Operating Instructions
The VEVOR Pro Grind Sharpening System offers multiple methods for sharpening various tools. Always ensure the tool is securely held and the angle is correctly set before grinding.
5.1. Platform Jig Sharpening Method
This method is ideal for chisels and plane irons, providing a stable surface for consistent bevels.

Figure 4: Platform Jig in use, demonstrating sliding motions for sharpening.
- Assemble the Platform Jig onto the support bars.
- Secure your chisel or plane iron onto the platform.
- Adjust the platform's angle to achieve the desired bevel.
- Use the miter slides (flat or pivoting) to guide the tool smoothly across the grinding wheel, maintaining a consistent angle.
- The ratchet handle allows for fine adjustments to achieve precision edges.
5.2. Multi-Grind Jig Method
The Multi-Grind Jig and long support arm allow for various grinds on chisels and woodturning tools, including standard, long, short, and fingernail grinds.

Figure 5: Multi-Grind Method illustrating various grind profiles and the use of the Micro Bevel Block.
- Attach the Multi-Grind Jig to the support bar.
- Secure your woodturning tool or chisel in the jig.
- Utilize the Magnetic Micro Bevel Setup Block (with sizes 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 1") to quickly set the desired angle for your grind.
- Adjust the jig and support arm to achieve the specific grind profile (standard, long, short, or fingernail).
- Carefully present the tool to the grinding wheel, moving it consistently to create an even bevel.
5.3. Tool Rest Sharpening Method
The Tool Rest Bar is useful for freehand sharpening or for tools that require a different approach, such as roughing gouges.

Figure 6: Tool Rest Sharpening Method, showing installation and use for specific tool types.
- Install the Tool Rest Bar assembly onto the Multi-Grind Bar.
- Select the tool to be sharpened (e.g., roughing gouge).
- Adjust the height and angle of the tool rest to support the tool at the desired sharpening angle against the grinding wheel.
- For fine grinding and to prevent over-sharpening, a piece of paper can be placed on the knife block as a thickness offset (paper not included).
- Carefully guide the tool across the grinding wheel, using the tool rest for support and consistency.
5.4. Adjustable Sharpening Angle
The system features an adjustable angle jig with a cam lock mechanism, allowing for precise and repeatable angle settings.

Figure 7: Adjustable Angle Jig, demonstrating the cam lock for securing sharpening angles.
To adjust the angle, loosen the cam lock, set the jig to the desired angle, and then tighten the cam lock to secure it. This ensures stability during the sharpening process.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down all components of the sharpening system to remove grinding dust and debris. Use a dry cloth or a soft brush.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to moving parts and threaded components to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the sharpening system in a dry, clean environment when not in use to prevent corrosion and damage.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all parts for wear, damage, or loose fasteners. Replace any worn or damaged components immediately to maintain safety and performance.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Jig does not slide smoothly. | Accumulation of dust/debris; lack of lubrication. | Clean glide blocks and rails. Apply a light lubricant. |
| Difficulty in securing tools. | Improper tool placement; worn clamping mechanism. | Ensure tool is seated correctly. Inspect clamping parts for wear. |
| Inconsistent sharpening angle. | Jig not securely locked; improper technique. | Verify all locking mechanisms are tight. Practice consistent movement. |
| Stripped bolts or fasteners. | Over-tightening; manufacturing defect. | Avoid over-tightening. If defective, contact VEVOR customer support for replacement parts. |
