4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Pre-conditioning the Cast Iron Plate

The 3.0 cm thick cast iron plate has undergone a high-temperature oil film treatment. For optimal natural anti-stick effect, pre-condition the surface before first use by heating and applying a thin layer of cooking oil.

4.2 Lighting the Burners

The griddle is equipped with a piezoelectric ignition system for a 1-second start.

  1. Ensure the gas tank valve is fully open.
  2. Push and turn a control knob counter-clockwise to the 'MAX' position.
  3. Push the ignition button (if separate) or continue holding the knob in for integrated ignition. You should hear a click and see the burner ignite.
  4. If the burner does not light within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to 'OFF', wait 5 minutes, and repeat the lighting procedure.
  5. Adjust the flame to your desired cooking temperature using the control knobs.

4.3 Tri-Zone Precision Control

The griddle features triple stainless steel burners (30000 BTU total) with individual knobs for precise temperature adjustment from 180°C (slow-roast) to 300°C (sear). Wind-resistant vent slots optimize heat distribution, allowing the griddle to preheat in less than 5 minutes for immediate cooking.

4.4 Dual-Purpose Side Table

The side table (29"L × 16.3"W) is coated with high-temperature powder. It serves dual functions: when closed, it acts as a grill lid, and when inserted into the side, it transforms into a convenient side table for food preparation or holding utensils.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

5.1 Cleaning the Cooking Surface

After each use, allow the griddle to cool. Scrape off any food residue with a griddle scraper. For cast iron, a light coat of cooking oil after cleaning helps maintain its seasoned surface.

5.2 Grease Management

The griddle features an 8mm oil leak hole design and an extractable oil catch box to receive grease flow. Regularly empty and clean the grease pan to prevent flare-ups and maintain hygiene.

The main body of the griddle top is stainless steel, and the car frame is made of high-temperature resistant powder-painted iron. Clean exterior surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage the finish.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MELLCOM Gas Griddle, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Burner not lighting: Check if the gas tank is open and has sufficient fuel. Ensure all gas connections are secure. Verify the igniter is sparking.
  • Uneven heating: Ensure the griddle is level. Clean burners and grates to remove any blockages.
  • Low flame: Check for a partially closed gas tank valve or a low fuel level. Ensure the regulator is functioning correctly.
  • Gas leak smell: Immediately turn off the gas supply. Do not operate the griddle. Check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution. If a leak is detected or suspected, contact a qualified service technician.
