3. Setup
- Assemble the Poles: Connect the four 30cm aluminum poles by screwing them together using the 1/4"-20 threads. Ensure they are securely fastened to achieve the desired height, up to a maximum of 1.2 meters.
- Attach the Prism: Screw the mini prism onto the top of the assembled pole. The prism has a threaded connection point for this purpose.
- Attach the Point: If using the prism for ground placement, attach the pointed adapter to the bottom of the pole.
- Level the Prism: Use the integrated level bubble on the prism to ensure it is perfectly vertical before taking measurements. Adjust the pole's position until the bubble is centered.

4. Operation
The GMP111 Mini Surveying Prism is designed to reflect signals from a total station for precise distance and angle measurements. Follow these steps for effective operation:
- Position the Prism: Place the assembled prism and pole at the desired measurement point. Ensure the pole is stable and the prism is securely attached.
- Level the Instrument: Use the integrated level bubble to ensure the prism is perfectly vertical. This is crucial for accurate measurements.
- Set Total Station Offset: Configure your total station with the correct prism constant (offset). For this GMP111 model, the constant is 0mm. Incorrect offset settings will lead to inaccurate distance measurements.
- Target the Prism: Aim your total station's telescope directly at the center of the prism. The copper-coated surface is designed for optimal reflection.
- Take Measurements: Initiate the measurement process on your total station. The prism will reflect the signal back to the total station, allowing for precise data collection.

5. Maintenance
- Clean the Prism: Regularly clean the copper-coated prism surface with a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild optical cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
- Inspect Poles: Check the aluminum poles for any signs of bending, damage, or corrosion. Ensure the threads are clean and free of debris for smooth assembly.
- Store Properly: When not in use, store the prism and poles in the provided soft carrying bag to protect them from dust, dirt, and physical damage.
- Avoid Extreme Conditions: Do not expose the prism to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or harsh chemicals.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Inaccurate Measurements
- Check Leveling: Ensure the prism is perfectly level using the integrated bubble. Any tilt can affect accuracy.
- Verify Prism Constant: Confirm that the correct prism constant (0mm for this model) is entered into your total station.
- Clean Prism Surface: A dirty or smudged prism surface can interfere with signal reflection. Clean it as described in the Maintenance section.
- Environmental Factors: Strong heat shimmer, fog, or heavy rain can affect measurement accuracy.
6.2 Difficulty Assembling Poles
- Check Threads: Inspect the 1/4"-20 threads on the poles for dirt, damage, or cross-threading. Clean or carefully re-thread if necessary.
- Ensure Alignment: Make sure the poles are aligned straight before attempting to screw them together.
