4. Installation
The Gooway Smart Door Lock is designed for secure installation. Due to its mortise lock design, it may not fit standard doors and could require custom installation. Professional installation is recommended to ensure proper functionality and security.
Important Considerations Before Installation:
- Door Compatibility: Verify your door's thickness and backset measurements against the lock's specifications (refer to Figure 3.1).
- Mortise Lock: This lock uses a mortise lock body, which is different from traditional cylindrical latches. Ensure your door is compatible or prepared for this type of installation.
- Wiring: While the lock is battery-powered, consider the routing of internal cables between the front and rear panels.
General Installation Steps (Consult a Professional if Unsure):
- Prepare the Door: Ensure the door frame and door are clean and free of obstructions. If replacing an existing lock, remove it.
- Install Mortise Lock Body: Insert the mortise lock body into the door's edge. Secure it with screws.
- Install Spindle and Cables: Insert the spindle through the mortise and route the necessary cables through the door.
- Mount Front Panel: Attach the front panel, ensuring the spindle and cables align correctly. Secure it loosely.
- Mount Rear Panel: Connect the cables from the front panel to the rear panel. Attach the rear panel to the door, aligning it with the front panel. Secure both panels firmly.
- Install Battery: Insert the rechargeable lithium battery into the designated compartment in the rear panel.
- Test Functionality: Before closing the door, test the mechanical handle and deadbolt to ensure smooth operation.
